    Boxing Books...

With holidays looming and my knowledge of boxing beyond the last few years limited I was wondering if anyone can suggest a good book. I was considering the Tyson book but another couple wouldn't go amiss, ideally I don't wanna go too far back into history 80's 90's ideally

    lol what holiday is looming?

I would go with the raging bull book about Jake LaMotta if you havent read it. its amazing

Also there are plenty of great books on Louis Schmelling that you should check out.

And there was a book that just came out about the Duran-Hagler-Hearns-Leonard matchups that i heard was amazing, but i havent read yet. i think its called "the four kings" or something along those lines

As far as very recent boxing books on recent times, not sure there are many good ones out yet

      Heres the ones I own,
      Bert Sugars; Boxings Greatest Fighters
Sorcery at Caesars about the Hagler Leonard fight
Only in America: The Life and Crimes of Don King
A Savage Buisness: The Comeback and Comedown of Mike Tyson

I suggest all of them, they all have good history of boxing and fighters and are very interesting. I read all of them within a week of starting them and I never read any books.

I reccomend the four kings. Very good book.

Also Cindrella man is a lot better then the movie. Read Tunney if you have a chance too.

Cool thanks for the suggestions I like idea of learning more about the Hearns/Hagler era so I'll go with on of those for sure. Also Don King interests me. Almost all these books bar the 4 kings are like 2 pounds on amazon keep em coming I'm sure I can stretch to like 20 for a few good books.

Oh I'm off to Germany for the Haye fight for a few days and then off to Benicasim for 10 days, plus its getting warm and being unemployed gives me plenty of time to sit in the garden....and read.

I just got the Roberto Duran biography as well as the Micky Ward one, too. An excellent, excellent book that I think blows "Raging bull" away is "Barney Ross" by Douglas Century. Check it out if you get the chance.
