Loughrey Shows Bad Form in Quintana Withdrawal

My old friend Doug Loughrey, the boxing program director for ESPN, is on the attack. Loughrey is upset over the recent withdrawal of Carlos Quintana, who was scheduled to fight Danny Perez on the June 6th edition of ESPN’s Friday Night Fights. [details]

I agree. Ishe has had so many chances and put forth so many dreadful performances that I can't blame any program director for not wanting to put him on the air.

Styles make fights. I thought Ishe v. Wolak was a good fight. Perez has a style that would make Ishe have to fight.

Yeah I was hoping to see him as well. And after some recent horrible fights I certainly do not want to see Ishe Smith.

Based on What Dan? Based on the fact that he has only lost to Contenders and a Former Champion, if you dont like the guy then just say it, but dont hate. Futhermore he lost to Mora by SD on a damn TV show, he lost to Sechew Powell in a fight that many thought he won, it wasnt boring, there styles just didnt mesh, then he lost to Julio 96-94 on 2 of the 3 cards. After that he beat Wolak on Sho-box, which in my eyes was a pretty good performance, and won his last fight as well. I am sure you will some how justify how ESPN just approved Carlos Molina, a guy who is 16-4 with 5 KO's who is really a welterweight. Go ahead classic Dan, give me a good reason for this decision, and if you were in charge of any network, you would have never gave Cintron the opportunity against Angulo. Smith was worthy for this spot as a feel in at least, I wanted to see Carlos too, but in my opinion if he was unable to go, Smith is a way better option than Molina. Compare the records and get back to me.....

Loughrey should be commended for denying the always boring and reluctant Ishe Smith. If you're gonna have somebody from the contender it should be somebody like Alfonso Gomez who gives you your monies worth.

I want to see new faces that come to win and uncoddled prospects like Antoine Smith and Devin Vargas. Smith and Dibella can take their race card and shove it up their ass.

Smith is not entertaining. Simple as that. Cory Spinks is a good boxer. But he wont be headlining any PPV fights any time soon because like Smith, he is too cautious and makes for boring TV.

You can be cautious and be entertaining. Smith is not that.
