A few misconceptions: The wearing of military uniforms while not on duty has always been somewhat taboo in Britain. It is a symbol of state oppression from the days in which the military were used to put down "mutiny" (for example in the Peterloo Massacre during the corn riots in 1819). It is a testament to our very long history rather than any hatred of the military.

Another point is that Khan would be alright but he is also coming into the ring under the Pakistani flag, and this bothers a lot of people. You want to claim British backing but it comes across as treachery to fly the Pakistani flag, especially given the enmity between Pakistan and our long time ally India.

Lennox Lewis had a hard enough time being accepted in Britain because of boxing in the Olympics under the Canadian flag, and Canada is extremely closely tied to Britain culturally. So when you're flying the flag of an alien culture you cannot expect to be full accepted.

If people are concerned about immigration, it's because we are in the EU. Once we leave the EU we can actually set our own rules and regulations about immigration.

If we left the EU we wouldn't have to worry about immigration... the economy would go down the toilet so fast nobody in their right mind would want to come here.
