Okay, thanks, I'll take "******ed" as a compliment in that context.
BatlingNelson can't even decide on his point. One minute it's all about meeting at a weight (this thread), the next it's all about Floyd being naturally way too big for Marquez (any Mayweather-Marquez thread).
Maybe you can sort him out.

Both scenarios are preposterous and you know that. Battling Nelson knows that, but you can only see what you want to see. Fight night weights are bull****. You only agree with them because they show Floyd in a favorable light. This so called enlightenment of yours only applies to Floyd because it does not matter to anyone else, and does not need to be applied to anyone else.Last edited by deanrw; 06-02-2009, 10:40 AM.

If Marquez is a "career featherweight" then you could state Floyd is a "career super featherweight" same way... It's nonsense. All things taken into account, every conceivable measurement considered, Mayweather Jr. vs. Marquez is not as "preposterous" as some would have you believe. Mayweather is bigger, for sure, but it's hardly the same as, say, Clottey getting in there with Marquez, even though both Floyd and Clottey are both currently fighting within the welterweight boundaries.

deanrw,
I understand the premise. And I disagree that Mayweather has as much business fighting Pavlik as Marquez, for a multitude of factors. But we can disagree on that. I can think you're silly, you can think likewise.
But don't attempt to speak for me as you did here,

Characterizing my posts as those of one with an agenda geared to one fighter, while you laugh it up with a chump who comes in with an agenda clearly geared against that fighter, shows you up.
My thoughts on fight night weights apply the whole way around.

There are rules setup for a reason regarding day before weight-ins. They are there to allow a fighter who is low on fluids, to rebuild his fluids that will keep him safer. A dehydrated body has less protective fluid surrounding the brain. It is necessary to keep a fighter hydrated.
So many will argue that Floyd fights at the same weight he was the day before. That is Floyd's decision! So I guess old school rules apply to him. Good enough. Nobody should be expected to go by Floyd's rules. They go by official rules and Floyd's does not apply.
None of this bull**** got argued before Floyd came back. Floyd is not a career super feather. He grew out of that weight class naturally. Is that is the case Pacquiao should be fighting flyweights still.
A career weight is what a fighter naturally grows into. Floyd basically grew into a Jr. Welterweight size wise. Marquez grew into a Jr. Lightweight. Manny naturally grew into a Jr. Lightweight.

BattlingNelson's presence in this thread, and his entire opinion on its subject, wouldn't happen to be entirely formed around his unfavorable personal opinion of one guy, would it? Oh no.
