Anyone who hasn't realized that HBO has as much of an agenda as any sanctioning body - if not more and (gasp!) even more fearful - then God help you.
HBO fight night weights are UNOFFICIAL

Because those lameass stats don't tell of the difference in body size. Here's a statistic for you - Mayweather and Marquez fought just a division apart for years until Mayweather started moving up in search of the money. They are far nearer in natural size to each other than Mayweather and Pavlik will ever be.
So I'm still waiting.Comment

If you think it impossible for 2 guys to meet at a designated weight limit yet still be seperated by a very significant size differential (as there would be in Mayweather-Pavlik), why were you ever bitching about Mayweather-Marquez?
Again, the difference in frame between Marquez and Mayweather doesn't resemble the difference you would see between Mayweather and Pavlik.
In short, common sense.Comment

Clear vision and a good look at the size of their frames should suffice.

I'm pretty sure that Hearns and Leonard never could have fought a unification fight by your standards.Comment

In the hypothetical instance of Mayweather-Pavlik, all you need is your naked eye and some common sense to see what's up. Hearns and Leonard were far more suited in their matchups than Mayweather and Pavlik would be.
Could Pavlik ever have conceivably made any weight Mayweather has fought at besides 154 (which Floyd only went to for Oscar)? Mayweather has fought at 130 and 135, Marquez's last 2 classes, and moved up through weights in search of cash fights. They fought a class apart for years.
I'm not saying Mayweather isn't bigger than Marquez. I'm saying it is nowhere near the monstrous difference you're trying to sell it as.Comment

I guess weight divisions isn't needed. All we need is some common sense and 20/20 vision.Comment

And, by the way, there is an extreme point (like the fantasy matchup you're proposing) in which weight becomes a non-issue and the naked eye is indeed all that is needed to guage the suitability of 2 guys for each other. The naked eye doesn't just take in height, it takes in the dimensions of men, the size of the frame, the whole picture.
Were Floyd ever to fight Pavlik at middleweight, he likely wouldn't even weigh in 160. That says it all.
You can dance around it all you want, but Mayweather-Marquez isn't a comparable differential to Mayweather-Pavlik. You are ridiculous.Comment

Look at Leonard and Hearns. What does your eye and common sense tell you there?Comment

You can spin it however you choose, though.
But I haven't made the ridiculous proposition you're trying to attribute to me here,
, and you have made the ridiculous propositions you've typed elsewhere in this thread.Comment

It tells me Hearns is taller and longer. It tells me Hearns is an unusually skinny guy for his height. Pavlik isn't such a skinny guy that he could ever have competed pro at a weight Mayweather's fought at besides 154.Last edited by MACAQUEINBLACK; 06-02-2009, 08:54 AM.Comment
