Yes because number of fights isnt relevant either. Carl Froch is 31 but only has 25 fights and his win over Taylor is probably more significant than anything Dawson has done. Chavez JR has had almost 40 fights but you could still consider him to be fairly green.

As I stated before, Eubank was Calzaghes first big fight and a huge step up. Whereas Dawson was already a champ when he fought Johnson/Tarver and was a big favourite. Plus even 3 extra fights as a pro is quite a big difference at that stage.

      lol wtf????

so basically what you are saying is, Dawson fought better fighters so he can't be considered better than Calzaghe because he just fought a higher level of competition?????????????????????????<--- is that about right. cuz if thats the argument you are using, you just took nut-hugging to a whole new level.

I think Dawson will do well if he lays off the boxing politics and just fight whoever is the best opponent available. He did the right thing giving Glen Johnson a rematch, but he did the wrong thing rematching Antonio Tarver.

Dawson was suppose to fight Tavoris Cloud after he beat Tarver the first time, but again boxing politics got in the way (rematch clause) and that just f** things up. His promoter is an ass****, he's telling Dawson wrong things. Dawson does not need to go down to 168 unless unless he beats Glenn Johnson, Tavoris Cloud, and Adrian Diaconu.

Aren't there a lot of people that wanted/want to see Dawson fight Hopkins?

Dawson is only 26 years old. So he's fighting Tarver and Johnson right now. Thats the equivalent of Calzaghe fighting Eubank. Calzaghe didn't catch any flak when he faced Chris. Only after he made his 20 or so title defenses against bums did he really get criticized.

The point is, Dawson is still relatively at the beginning stages of his career. Sure Tarver and Johnson are past their primes, but Dawson himself hasn't reached his prime and his career still has a long ways to go. Its not like Dawson is retiring after his next fight. He still has a long way to go and a lot more to accomplish before he retires.

If you do want to compare the 2 fighters however, you have to compare them when they were at the same point in their careers. And thus far Dawson is EASILY ahead of Calzaghe as far as accomplishments at the same age(26). Adamek + Johnson + Tarver(2) > Eubank.

So for all the irrational and illogical idiots comparing these 2 fighters, you need some perceptive and need to realize that by comparing Calzaghe's whole career to Dawson's young career, you are effectively pwning yourselves and unwittingly insulting your favorite fighter.

                Firstly your a total ****.

Second dawson is no where near Calzaghe in terms of skills so i very much doubt he can match Cal.

Eubank took the fight at short notice, and was old.

Your a moron of the highest calibre.

Dawson is one of the most skilled fighters in the entire sport, even Mayweather Jr will tell you that ****, so where the f.uck you got that from I dont know.

Dawson actually punches by the way, not slaps.

They both very talented, but calzaghe is no means far more advanced.

Its about styles, right now, I got no problem with Calzaghe>dawson, cos we all know how dodgy chad is down the stretch, but remember, Dawson got in the ring with a guy calzaghe pulled out of 2 fights with, and neither hopkins or calzaghe want anything to do with him.
