These belts are nothing but stepping stones in boxing other then the heavyweight division where everybody needs to cling on to one of these belts and defend them against unworthy mandatories in order to be considered one of the best.

In the lower weight divisions, if you establish yourself as a PPV attraction, you no longer need these belts. You can simpy beat the title holder and vacate and move on to the next challange (e.g. Mayweather, pacquiao, Delahoya).

However lets not trash the sanctioning bodies, they're a good tool for up and coming fighters who don't have a lucrative deal with HBO waiting for them. There are only a handful of HBO babies who get the multi-million per fight contracts. What are the up and comers supposed to do? Wait for the superstars like Mayweather or Delahoya to give them a shot or for HBO to give them a shot and televise their bouts? No they gotta keep it moving and if that means fightng scrubs that nobody has heard off to advance in the rankings so be it.

Also how about a the IBF's Tarvis Cloud vs the WBC's Diaconu, both undefeated, both mandatories that Dawson declined to fight. Step it up boys, **** or get off the pot.

Are you saying you want Cloud to fight Diaconu? Cloud is fighting Woods for a belt, why would he want to fight Diaconu at the point in his career?

I'm not even gonna quote a poster that said earlier that Woods is gonna beat Cloud. That is a joke. Of course there's a possibility that Woods may get a gift decision if the fight happens in the UK like he did in the rubbermatch with Glen Johnson. On another note though this story is so flawed. There is a long line of mandatory challengers that have been deserving in the past that had a resume similar to what Cloud has. Examples are Mayweather against Genaro Hernandez, CHAD DAWSON against Adamek, Paul Williams against Margarito, Pavlik against Taylor, and to a lesser extent, Nate Campell against Juan Diaz. I could probably come up with other examples but I'm not gonna strain my brain to do it. Their are a portion of fans of Dawson that just jock ride him without putting themselves in other fighters' shoes and it is annoying.

I don't ride his jock, the fact is IBF rules are inflexible, and Tavoris Cloud doesn't deserve ANY props what so ever because he hasn't been busy for the last 9 months. He could of fought twice during that time instead sat around waiting for his opportunity to fight Dawson, knowing the politics would delay his title shot longer. He hasn't done **** and no one needs to be in shoes because I think Dawson would kick his ass anyway. Tavoris Cloud isn't going to make it big in boxing.

I mean he had one good win against a shot Julio Gonzalez and now he thinks he deserves a shot, he could of done more during those 9 months.

The stipulation to the rematch clause was a two fight option. I give Chad Dawson his props for giving Johnson the rematch he deserves and I don't rip him for vacating his strap to let Cloud fight for it. But that doesn't mean that I'm dismissing Cloud as a live challenger to Dawson down the line if Chad happens to beat Johnson again, which of course you already know by my posts he didn't do the first time in my opinion.
I thought the fight was a draw.

You are right about Cloud's resume. It is a who's that guy type of record, but you can't deny that he did look impressive in stopping Gonzalez. I don't think that Chad would have been able to to be honest. He would have played it safe and coast to a decision like he does in all of his big fights. I don't blame Chad for not fighting Cloud right now, because I'll admit he has unfinished business with Glen Johnson. But where is Chad gonna go if he happens to beat Johnson unimpressively again? It'll be Cloud with the belt and a more exciting style and pretty soon he'll be more wanted by the TV networks and not Chad.
