Lmao, I always said Whitaker had the best jab I've ever seen. Dude was just complete, he had more then enough power to slow down JCC and get DLH's respect.

Don't be an idiot, Hatton may be the harder puncher but he ain't nearly as good as Whitaker going to the body.

Hatton hits harder to the body, but overall he wasnt as effective as Whitaker.

his placement is only so-so, and for most fighters that know how to block his sloppy shots his body work is pretty much nullified.

Whitaker was able to land body shots against various top ten fighters, all with different styles, including TOP level fighters like Buddy McGirt, JCC and Azumah Nelson. even prime DLH and Trinidad, to a degree.

Whitaker and Hatton are totally different types of fighters, including their approach to body punching.

Hatton is more aggressive in his approach and has more KDs and KOs from body punches. Whitaker faced better opposition though, and was effective to the body against some of the best fighters he faced. Against the best two fighters Hatton faced, Mayweather nullified the left hook to the body, and Hatton was too busy getting punched in the face to have an effective body attack against Manny.

the guy went to distance with whitaker, hatton would've downed him in 4 rounds. how can you say 'not as effective'?

hatton style is of a body puncher, he's more effective

he downed tsuyu and castillio with body punches, both fighters are better than haugen by a mile

try to accept that whitaker is not all that, hatton can go tru whitakers resume (win fights) undefeated...

Whitaker was not as popular as he should have been early on. In fact most of the 84 Olympians suffered a little backlash.

The reason they did was because of ABC and Alex Wallau hyping them as gods. I remember watching their fights and having to turn the sound off to actually enjoy the fights. Taylor suffered the same fate as Whitaker. It was not until well in their pro careers that they got more appreciated. Holyfield is the only one of them who escaped the curse early by becoming too big for ABC early on, so he escaped the stigma.

I still remember Alex Wallau and that ex Football player as commentators, and I still shudder from the thought of it.

Whitaker was so damn graceful in there though. So fluid and so damn precise.
