Calzaghe and Dawson: a double standard about fighting old opponents

What a ****** post. The guy called them out and did more then they did yet they get no criticism. As for if that meant he really wanted them is purely subjective, he's clearly indicated he did want them and if you want to subjectively judge the guys character on thin evidence, and say he was lying and didn't really want them, fine. But that doesn't make it fact.
I clearly said Roy Jones has faded the most, and is a top 10 LHW.
Both completely correct as much as may like to make out otherwise yet again.
Tarver got a fight with Roy. How did he do it? How did Joe go about proposing it? Constant offers in England. He knew that would not fly.
Who did Roy beat at LHW to make him a Top 10 LHW?Comment

Jones was considered shot or way past his best in 2005, his best win before Calzaghe was over an old, out of shape Tito Trinidad, I don't remember much criticism about him fighting Hopkins. Tarver had a good win over Woods before fighting Dawson and I think Johnson was his mandatory and is still considered a top light heavyweight.Comment

"If that's the case why has he been avoiding me? I'll do a winner-takes-all"
"I want a big fight in the States and Hopkins is who I'm looking for,"
On Jones:
"Jones is supposed to be the best fighter in the world at the moment. A showdown between us has got to happen to prove who is the best."
"Roy says he has difficulty in finding opponents but he has Joe Calzaghe - the best fighter in the division - waiting to fight him and ready to put his title on the line.
Jones was offered $5m (£3.5m) to fight Calzaghe by the US television company Showtime earlier this year, but has since renewed his contract with Showtime's rivals HBO, making the fight unlikely in the foreseeable future and Calzaghe may attempt instead to seek super-middleweight unification contests.
Ring LHW Rankings with Roy at 6:

1: Roy didnt want to ****ing know about Joe Calzaghe. Joe was calling him out in 2000 man -- 9 years ago! He also said he would like to go to America for a fight with Roy or Hopkins.
2: Both were in different divisions. Roy moved up to LH a whole year before Calzaghe even won a strap. Considering this, why the hell did people even EXPECT them to fight? They were not even obliged to do so.
3: Roy made more money staying in America fighting bigger names. Joe Calzaghe at that time offered very little, so you can hardly blame Roy for not fighting him, Calzaghe simply wasn't a big enough name. He was high risk for low reward.
4: Roy Jones has never fought outside America. Why is it OK for Americans to stay at home and never fight outside their comfort zone, but Joe Calzaghe, who only has fought in his country (yes, Wales is a separate country and people outside Wales are often biased and hateful towards the Welsh) 17 times out of 46 fights, get **** for it?
Double standards once again.
Some people need to take their heads from out of their asses and realize that America isn't be the be-all-end-all. There is life outside of the USA. And this is coming from a person who was born in the USA.Comment

He was ranked #1 at Light Heavyweight by every single independent boxing ratings organisation at that time. Bar none. And #3 P4P.Comment

The Ring ranks him at #6.
Boxrec ranks him at #5.
Those are the two most respected rankings organisations in boxing.Comment
