Not at first. I remember my first opponent was a 6 year old. He beat the piss out of me. I could not even hit him. he landed about 200 shots on me and they only felt like I was getting hit by pillows (no Joke)

After a couple year as you get heavier they made us use headgear. I was not fitted with my first mouthpiece till i would say around 8 years old and only because I would bite my lip with punching.

At 5 years with gloves, it truly is like a pillow fight. No harm.

At 14, I had enough power where I started injuring guys. I could bruise and break ribs with my right hook.

I think Punching power comes with puberty actually. That is when we all started gaining strength..from 12-14 years old.

Since you have the hands-on experienced with this, how do you rate these two five years old boys? Both in skills & natural ability??

OK lets keep this secret!!! 140 is too much for my son. How about 40 lbs for PBF. My son's only 30 lbs but we'll take it at 40 lbs. I'm sure floyd will be skin & bones.

I don't know if Floyd can take a Flurry like this. Shoulder rolls won't help him.

mukhang proud na proud ka sa anak mo compars. Ok yan. Let him play soccer pars. Footwork is the foundation of all sports and is vital in boxing. If you have good feet everything will follow. Olajuwon started basketball in college but had a soccer foundation look how great a basketball player he became. Or you can send him to ballet which certain athletes like Marbury use to improve footwork, and agility LOL. Boxing is a tough sport and if you decide to pursue it for your son, know that it is not for everyone. Let him have fun with it and see what he's got. The good thing with starting em early is that they learn to disassociate the harmless punches at the beginning of their boxing growth with the progressive pain that their improving peers will inflict as they develop. Late starters are usually scared to get hit. Boxing is not a sport to be forced on a kid. Your kid looks like hes enjoying. I hope he does well, instill well placed pride in him early because fighters with nothing to fight for usually lose the balls to continue and I site Buster Douglas as a prime example of that.
