If what I've read is trus (Regarding him bulking up), I think he's actually deminishing his chances a bit tbh.
yeah, that's a good point and maybe you're right. Still, I look at the oscar fight and oscar was able to keep the fight somewhat close by being aggressive and trying to be physical with him, he won rounds that way. Even though Floyd is naturally bigger than Marquez, I don't think it's floyd's style to fight bigger, he's still going to look to counter while, back peddle, etc. while marquez will be the aggressor. If that's the way the fight is going to end up I would imagine it would help marquez a lot to be the strongest he's ever been.

I would've thought he'd follow what Pac did more-so, coming in lighter to maximise the factors that are in his favour...

What do you think? Should he stay light for speed, or bulk up for power and strength?
marquez is smart enough to understand how to utilize his strength rather then speed/how to make up for it. speed is a great tool against floyd, but he knows he's got a better chance with some power then none against floyd.

i don't think it'll effect his speed as drastically as people are thinking, but we'll see. i hope we get some sparring sessions or something. will there be a 24/7?

My first reaction was to think....oh, maybe he shouldn't that, bulking up will compromise his speed.

But to be absolutely honest, JMM and Nacho know more than any of us will ever know when it comes to boxing, and I'm sure they're acutely aware of the pitfalls in bulking up too much. Not saying every decision by trainers/conditioners in the history of the sport have been perfect, but you gotta go with what Nacho/JMM/team staff go with. They'll have thought about it a heck of a lot.

To be fair, this is a win win situation for JMM...

If he wins, he is practically hailed for a great victory... and if he loses, nobody will pin it against him or anything because most people don't expect him to win.

Plus he is earning a **** load of money in this fight...

I hope JMM doesnt think like that. If so that would mean he wouldnt take it serious! Money should motivate you to a extinct but not dictate how serious you take the fight. I understand what you are saying but, I hope JMM dont have that in his mind.

I don't buy this notion that Mayweather is used to the 147 lb division. If he is so accustomed to it then why don't he fight someone his own size. Guys like Gatti, Mitchell, Judah, and Baldomir don't get you accustomed to anything. When Mayweather came back I don't doubt for one second that he wanted an easier opponent than JMM. This is a case of where the cherry picker don't want to fight a tough challenge, but HBO is forcing him to do it.

i think jmm will be fine....his training team is very experienced..I was happy to hear he kept his training in Mexico where hes always had it in the past..even though that whole swine flu was goin on..I live in Diego and that flu was hyped up beyond belief 2 schools shut down for months becuz of it a lil crazy...but he always comes to a fight in top shape..he has to gain muscle to compete with floyd otherwise floyd will dominate....i dont really think he will lose much speed either
