nada. At the time they had other Mexican stars like Morales and Castillo so they probably figured this Margarito guy keeps winning while we get the big fights for the others. Also, Arum always had a great relationship with fernando beltran so getting his fighters big fights was easier than say getting Tony a big fight

and thats another point about Tony. This whole "most avoided fighter" was a bit overplayed. Yeah there were a few fighters who flat out said no (I wont name who but you can guess) but it was his promoters job to get him those fights and IMO they were too busy promoting Morales and Castillo moreso

so while yes I know of two who wanted nothing to do with Tony to say he was avoid by everyone was hogwash

Nobody feels bad for Margarito, I feel bad for Cotto fans though. Using Margarito's name while he's obviously paying the price as it is, just to have Cotto win some senseless poll on a boxing forum. It's very sad if you ask me persoannly.

Damnnnn. I didn't realize that, those are great numbers. But I agree, it's all promotion. My first response in this thread was that I think it's Cotto but it's more or less how he had been promoted.

The only Olympian signed by Top Rank that year is going to demand more attention from his promoters than a guy like Tony. The pedigree Cotto had in his promotion is the reason I think Cotto is definitely more well known, and is slightly a bigger draw.

But hearing those numbers Margarito did on a Top Rank PPV is crazy, you're right, he should have definitely received a push. That's just bad business.

and cotto is probably the smalles dude out of all of them. So what is it a ****ing crime or so big he took a knee from plaster after being beaten up for 11 rounds?
