Lots of fighters refuse to be unofficially weighed in. In fact its normal to do so. Oscar refused for most of his fights, and I was surprised he allowed himself to be weighed in for the Pacquiao fight, but he did so to show how light he was. Watch the Margarito fight, and the Mosley fight they do not include unofficial weights in them.

Larry Merchant also said in the Margarito broadcast that Cotto did not allow us to weigh him in.

They might not want to show the advantage they are getting ,, the 36 hr weigh-in is being abused in these situations where smaller fighters are going up in weight , a little weight is ok up to about 7 lbs at this elite level , but 14 pounds and up is a big advantage and people try and sweep it under the carpet like its not there ,,,,,, if you are honest with yourself how can you judge a fight fairly if one fighter carrys such a big advantage the idea of boxing is a fair fight ,,,,, and then the haters cry about 4 pound with JMM vs Floyd ,,,, you now how they do it , easy just be a biased hater and not a good judge of boxing .

So what makes you think he didn't do the same against Judah?

HBO didn't weigh him for a REASON.
        you are just assuming here.

There should be a universal rule where a fighter can gain no more than 10 lbs after a weigh in.

most guys sweat out about 10% of their weight during weigh in.

so my guess is he was around 155 his last fights at 140 and about 160 at 147.
yeah good point man, when he was at 140 he didn't have the same muscle that he does at 147.

at 140 id say that come fight night cotto would weigh below 157

at 147 id say that come fight night cotto weighs around the 160 or slightly higher

i think he has physically grown alot since he has moved to 147, his body has much more muscle mass and has lost alot of the fat that was around his wasit and midriff.

overall id say that cotto is a good size for a WW, the likes of williiams, clottey and margarito are all huge WW's though, because of that some ppl may think that cotto is a small WW but i think hes a good size for WW.

Id like to see fighters not be allowed to fight outside the weight class and same day weigh-in , if its WW they must be between 140 and 147 stepping into the ring ,, its crazy where a fighter loses water to make 147 only to fight at 160 MW 30hrs later , the 36 hr weigh-in was not ment for this purpose of abuse and advantage .

It doesnt matter when both guys do it and are the same size , but it matters in a situation like Floyd and Pac being the very elite moving up they are then handicaped a lot by the weigh-in 36 hrs ,,,,, look at how many times promoters bring a young star in with an old champ and the champ fought in much lower divisions , its a big weight advantage to his prospect and he gets the former champs name value beating a much smaller fighter , and he gets away with it because while dehydrated he makes the weight class and nobody cares because its a such and such class fight and both weighed in , although one is huge on the night .

The trainers and fighters all know this and its the very reason they want Catch weights to even the weight up between the fighters .

I'd like to know where any of you get these numbers from first of all. Because I've seen pretty much all of Cotto's fights and they rarely show the day of fight weigh in.

Second of all if he were anything close to 170 we'd know because he walks around close to that weight and he's noticebly soft around his stomach. Even when he's 157 he doesn't look like he does on fight night.

Haters and supporters don't just guess facts.

Dont forget while you boys are discussing weight that Floyd and Pac come in at 147-8 ,,,,,,,,,,, but they can give Cotto all this weight and you call them bitches , lol I want to see Cotto fight Pavlik or Abraham would that be a fair fight or is that one of your double standards or are you going to run from this thread like you always do .

Im the world champion of shutting you haters down , read my posts and see how many time I shut the haters down they run away better than they say Floyd does lol .
And Pavlik is 160 in the ring? I know Abraham isn't the way he struggles to make weight. I know for sure Pavlik comes in 168-170. All of these guys drain themselves to an extent, so I don't know why you are even bringing this up. It's not long ago Pac was 144 for 130 pound fights.

Man you must be making some great money with that kind of mind capability. To be able to guess weights like that.

How are you all going to sit here and throw out numbers like you know.
