Antonio Tarver activated a rematch clause, had Tarver not activated the rematch clause, Dawson would of fought Cloud.

I don't see why Cloud has to fight Dawson right away. Povetkin didn't fight Wlad immediately when he become IBF mandatory and still has yet to fight him.

I normally don't defend Chad Dawson on these threads since I've disliked him since the Johnson fight, but I think I have to sympathize with his plight a little bit here. Even though I've viewed Tavoris Cloud as a potentially dangerous opponent for Dawson because of his power and aggressive style, I think him and his handlers are acting a little bit shady in this situation. First of all, when you go out of your way to try to get a titleholder stripped without even putting an offer on the table or try to spark up negotiations it makes you look like you don't even want to beat that guy for his title. Cotto gets a lot of negative criticism for not fighting established title holders and rightfully so. I'm also not impressed with the way Cloud has just sat on his status as a mandatory. I know the sanctioning bodies are money hungry scumbags that'll extract an elimination fee out of every guy that's ranked in their top two every time they fight, but that doesn't mean that Cloud should have wasted all this time doing nothing since his fight with Julio Gonzales. The Forrest-Martinez situation is a little different. There was no other obvious fight for Forrest to take other than Paul Williams for the Ring Belt and Martinez had fought some stay busy fights at least to keep the public familiar with him. Then in this situation you have the Glen Johnson factor. I think he's far more deserving of a fight with Chad than Cloud is. Johnson pushed Dawson to his limit and beat him in my view. Cloud has got his whole future ahead of him and that's why this rematch needs to happen first.
