to be fair a mega fight or even a superfight has to have at least 2 stars for it to do really well if your name is not Oscar de la Hoya.

Pac averaged about 350k with his trilogy vs Morales but did only 200,000 vs a non superstar in david diaz. He sold 400k vs Marquez.

Fraud jr. had 365k vs Gatti, 375k vs judah & 300k vs Baldomir.

Thats why it was amazing to see Pacquiao do a reported 830k vs hatton in a bad economy.
They basically have to make this work. 500 to 600k will be seen as a colossal failure in my opinion.
If it does those kind of numbers, Floyd's bargaining chips will drop big time for future fights
He made a killing off the other two guys, so you are right, this is the true test of what he can bring in.

I think it only gets hurt in the negotiating vs Pacquiao. With any other fighter Fraud jr has the upper hand.

With oscar retired how many mega/superstars are there in boxing?

Manny, Fraud jr. i dunno who else. Maybe cotto but i think he's in the star category with mosley as with a lot of fighters.

I think it will do pretty well actually, not great but I wouldn't be shocked if it gets more than 800k us domestic.
shall we start the ball rolling??

600K in this economy in a supposed "mismatch" is a colossal failure?

This is not an exciting fight and I hate watching mayrunners style of fight against marquez counterpunching style....

But, I'll be forced to watch this coz it's an intriguing fight.....

I'll be intrigue on how mayrunner gets to bully the smaller JMM and beats the hell out of him....

And I'll also be intrigue if JMM can counter and knock the hit and run style of mayrunner.....that is if marquez old legs can run after mayrunner:wank:

I'm as guilty as many other fans of promoting and condoning fights such as this one in the past. I've waisted my money of ****ty PPV for the sake of calling my self a die hard fan. But enough.... this one I catch on a blog and see the saturday after on HBO.

It's sad becuase this is between two great fighters.... the problem is the 2 division that separate them! If I'm dishing out $50 to see P4P's... it needs to be in a competitive decision. The only entertainment value on this fight is to see if Marquez can be competitive..... shame on the promoters and HBO. The only person I can undestand is Marquez, if nothing else he deserve the payday.

Folks.... don't buy this one and let us send a clear message! If you want to get rich do it the old fashion way... by earning our money and respect.

This is a HBO/SHO fight all the way and it should be built as a "Tune-up" or "Comeback" fight.... not a battle of Pound for Pounders.

I'm in. I say it does 450,000. Marquez isn't a big draw and PBF can't make him out to be a big threat because of the size debate.

                    sparkles.

I will be watching on sopcast.

No need to give my hard earned money to some punk who can't budget 50 million dollars. Why should I help finance this ******* and his flamboyant, LIFE STYLE flashy attitude. I hope his next check burns a larger whole in his pocket than the last one did. Fhuk him and his boat.
Same here. Im very tempted to buy this because Juan Marquez is fighting BUT im not a fan of how Mayweather actually thinks he is "The Face" of boxing and that hes the biggest draw out there. Pacquiaos fight with Hatton will probably double this recent fight.

This is a fight between two good fighters, but after watching a Pacquiao fight people will be very disapointed watching two technicians fighting in the ring. This can be a battle of strategies but not much fighting. It would be interesting to find out the winner but I won't buy a PPV to watch this event. Like most of the people I have talked to, we will just be happy to read it in the news.
