Maybe Arum figures its not worth the risk of putting Pacqiao in with a fighter whose style doesn't particularly match well with unless they are P4P like Mayweather. You fall short against someone #1 in their division but not declared P4P hurts you more in perception. This may come up again if he fights Cotto instead of Floyd.

In defense of guzman he did school soto and easily won that fight. He had over a year layoff before that fight, and yeah coasted the last few rounds as he had the fight in the bag and there wasn't a possible chance of him KO'ing Soto. In hindsight it would have been better for him to look more impressive in the later rounds, sure, but Guzman was thinking get the W and he fights Pacquiao, as there was a verbal agreement in place that if Guzman won, he would get his shot at Pac.

You are defending Guzman for coasting the last few rounds and that's understandable, but you are dead wrong about him helping his case for a shot at Pacquiao by doing that. Another thing I don't agree with is about Soto getting schooled. He landed a lot of body shots against Guzman when he had him on the ropes and Guzman had a swollen eye at the end of the fight. Punch quality definitely belonged to Soto even though he may have gotten outlanded. I have a soft spot in my heart for action fighters though so we can go on and on about this subject. But I'm gonna leave it at this unless you counter with another good debatable post. It is fun I'll admit.

Guzman is clearly not African American and the elite around Pacman's weight divisions so far have not been African American so the short answer is no, he has not avoided them. I'm sure he could have found some, but they wouldn't have been as good as the opponents he did fight who were usually latino. he's fought the best around his weight and they were not African American. Even if he moved up earlier on, the only black guy for him to fight would have been Casamayor who is also not American. This is just foreplay hype for Pacman V Mayweather!

Yeah doesn't it make more sense for TR to match up both Pac and Cotto with Mayweather, one after the other to get more money than to eliminate one from the equation temporarily.
