After they fought I tink Tyson admitted himself that he could have never beat Lennox. . .
I agree with him
I've heard people say the same with Louis when discussing Marciano...you believe him?
Some call it "humility."
Tyson's mindset at the time of Lewis was not the same young fighter.
You can also see this when interviewed by Charlie Rose and Rose plays an old interview of Mike with him...and Tyson is almost shocked at his young self and mentioned the confidence that guy had.
People change my friend and think differently based on their ability at the time.
Tyson always needed answers and a confidence builder...that was training and that was with Rooney.
Different mindsets...different versions of himself.
I was also watching Mike&Mike {show} and Grant Hill {b-ball} was talking about how his daughter was playing a HL video of his early career...him at his best...and he was a bit surprised at how good he actually was. It was a long time ago. A time when he was actually healthy and well trained.
He had become so accustomed to the way he was now...the way he was for many years (because of injury)...that he basically forgot.

I said that I agree with him. If he didn't say it I would still think it. I think Lennox is a fighter who can back Tyson up without having to put himself at much risk. He can fight him in the middle of the ring without having to put himself at much risk and he can go backwards with his jab and right hand and not have to put himself at much risk. Inevitably when Tyson did get himself inside, Lennox would bearhug tie him up and I think even a prime and more motivated Tyson would get broken down from right hands and getting leaned on and grappled by a much bigger man and eventually get knocked out. Similarly, I also think George Foreman, Rid**** Bowe and ______ Klitschko would have also beaten Tyson, I don't think his style matches up with skilled and/or very powerful big men very well.

You are always at risk with an in shape Tyson. If you punch, you are at risk. If you don't, you are still at risk but not as much.
Wlad doesn't handle pressure all that well nor does he have the chin. But I do like his arsenal. His stamina is an issue as well...and he tends to leave his body open.
Vitali: better chance to beating Tyson and probably could. I like his punch-out-put, his chin, and the way the throws punches from all sorts of weird angles. But when he throws, and with his hands down, it could be trouble.
He leaves his hands down way to much and is stiff.
Bowe: Tough fight. I'm not sure Bowe would have won though.
Lewis: I've always thought Lewis would trouble him. Not so much because of just size, strength, and skill...but intelligence and his cautious behavior to take fewer risks and do enough to keep someone off...while being agile in his prime.
Some fights leave it open for him to be beaten, like his fight against Mercer who was not on the level of Tyson.
If Lewis couldn't control the fight, it could be trouble. Lewis had a good jab, but he pawed a lot with it and left it out there. Against other HW's that weren't fast and agile...it is fine. But Tyson is a different matter. Tyson liked to get under jabs and come up with big shots. He was so small that you would have to punch down at him and when you do, you left yourself open and vulnerable.
And Lewis would have to clinch up if Tyson gets inside because if he lets Tyson go, Tyson could **** to the very huge body, wear down Lewis, bring those hands down and counter to the head.
And Tyson rarely got hit clean when he was at his best. True, someone like Lewis could up the chances of him being hit, but I doubt he would be busted up. And when he wasn't at his best...against Douglas...he took an ass whipping and lasted a long time before being put down.
Lennox Lewis was not in his physical prime at 35. He was smarter at 35, he had the ring experience and intuition at 35, but he was past it physically and used his boxing ability to defeat opponents. If you want to see a prime Lewis, look at the 1992 fight with Razor Ruddock. Lennox had incredible hand speed for a big man and was a savage KO artist.
Hopkins wasn't in his physical prime at 36 either, so what? Hopkins' peak as a boxer was at 36. He'd slowed down a bit but improved as a boxer, and overall he'd improved. Same with Lewis in his mid-30s. a 35 year old Lewis would have easily beaten a 27 year old Lewis, by using his jab more effectively.
I pick the 2000's Lennox Lewis to beat Tyson by a wide UD similar to the TUa fight.
I pick the 1992 Lennox to beat Tyson by 8th round TKO. Lennox is 2 inches taller than Holmes and twice as quick as any version of Holmes. Tyson would have problems.

I'm sorry but Lennox Lewis is NOT quicker than Holmes.....He's not even particularly quick when compared to ANY of the great Heavyweights.

I'm sorry but did you just say Lewis > Holmes ? lol.

Holmes was quick at dancing not throwing the right hand. Lennox's single right hand was like a ******* blast that would KO on impact. Holmes would just Jab, Jab, Jab, for ten rounds until his guy fell down.
