Larry was out. He wasn't going to make the 10 count. His body was lying helplessly on the ground with his eyes shut...and when his team did get there, they were checking him out to see if he was alright. When he did finally get up, he was helped up and held up.
You need to watch that video again. The referee was pulling Holmes' mouthpiece out within a second of him hitting the canvas and he had cornermen all over him well within the 10 seconds a referee could count. As for what would happen if he HAD gotten up I already addressed earlier: I said very plainly that Larry would have gotten seriously hurt.
Danny Williams and Mcbride fought what was left of Tyson AFTER Lewis finished him. Also Lennox was the "older" guy so you cant use age as an excuse.
Lewis wins because he is the only guy in Heavyweight history to have beaten every type of fighter: .Lewis beat younger fighters(Rahman) stronger fighters(Vitali), bigger fighters(Michael Grant) dirty fighters(Holyfield), technical fighters(Tucker), Swarmers(Tua), etc etc Lewis can win against any archetype.
Tyson has yet to prove that he can win against a big guy who's not intimidated by him. (Mcbride, Douglas, Williams, Lewis)
What about Razor Ruddock he wasn't scared of Mike was he? Mike beat him twice if I am correct....Homes called out tyson and was bigger then him much more experienced and Tyson beat him right? Those guys you mentioned besides Douglas / Lewis were all Journey men at the end of Mike's carrer. Mike didn't want to fight but had no other way to make $$$. We are talking about prime for prime right? Tyson wins that match in my book.....Lefty

Razor Ruddock wasn't half the fighter Lennox was. Holmes was way past his prime when he fought Tyson.
Tyson loses this fight because if matchups. If you look at Tyson's career, he always had problems with tall, long boxers. That is Lennox to a tee....
Tyson was a furious and powerful puncher in his prime, there is no doubt in that. He would have a punchers chance against anyone but I think that a focused Lennox in his prime, knocks out Tyson because Tyson is taylor made for him style wise.
If you look at the fighters Tyson went the distance with in his prime, Razor Ruddock, James Smith, they were both tall, long boxers. Then you factor in the problems he had with Buster Douglas and it speaks for itself.
Tyson was an exciting HW but a very overrated one. Lewis KO's him prime vs prime.

He had more problems with himself than he had with Douglas and he still managed to take that fight into the 10th round right? Honestly your arguement has been said over and over again Lewis was Ko'd by Oliver McCall in his prime does that mean that anyone that looks like Oliver McCall would give Lewis trouble? When Tyson fought Smith he was what 20 years old? You want to go that route Lewis never fought a recking ball like Tyson in his hayday either. David Tua gave Lewis some issues and went the full 12 rounds with him..... Lewis had his knees shaking in their actual bout in 2002 imagine what it would have been like if a 25-0 Lennox Lewis fought a 41-1 Iron Mike Tyson say in 1992 come on myman Tyson would have steam rolled him and you know it to say other wise is crap pure crap.....Lefty
Prime Tyson is the most overrated heavyweights of all-time.
Yeah we know he knoced out the first 20 fighters he faced unified the division and brought back boxing after the HW division was dead right he was ****e! Overated just ask Trevor Berbick (TKO2), Bone Crusher Smith (UD12), and Tony Tucker(UD12). Larry Holmes thought so called him out and got KTFO. Really over rated blitzed the division and took the World by storm. Did all this by the time he was 21 years old right? Defintely over rated I much rather watch Lewis jab his way to a win over Holyfield anyday right!!!!....Lefty

I make a much more compeling argument than you easily. I wasn't matching him up man to man, I was matching him up style wise to the type of fighter that gave Tyson problems.
If you think that my opinion is crap, then why bother with an intelligent debate?
Lewis we all know, fought to the level of his opposition. His major flaw was taking people too lightly. The way he did with Oliver McCall and Rahman. In the rematches though, when focused, he destroyed them.
Tyson has a punchers chance and was a furious puncher as I said but I just can't see him beating the best of Lewis, not on his best day. Lewis' jab would control the fight and after the initial barrage by Tyson early on, Lewis would control the mid to later rounds and KO Tyson by the 10th or 11th.

No one can argue that Tyson wasn't great for the game.
The thing with this matchup is who can say. Lennox can jab all night to a boring win, or could catch Mike coming in and crush him. BUT, Mike, with his underrated headmovement and footwork in his prime, could most definitely get inside and crack Lennox's dome. This fight could go down many ways.

Ok to say your post was crap was a bit harsh I value your post but I strogly disagree with the fact said about Tyson being extermely over rated. I think he was extremely mismanaged and taken advantage of by his people and that is what lead to his faling apart mentally. Buty to say the kid who took the world by storm by the time he was 22 was the man to beat was ****e is crap in my mind. Style wise this would have been a great fight but to deny that Mike could dominate Lewis is ridiculous. Lewis could jab his way too victory can you imagine anyone that had a better jab then larry Holmes? How come he couldn't keeo Mike on the outside? I know he was 38 he was shot he was way way past it that is why he beat Ray Mercer 18-0 & it took Holyfield 27-0 12 rounds to UD Holmes right? The same Larry Holmes that went 21-3 (7KO) after that fight with Tyson. The same Larry Holmes that had never been KO'd before or after by anyone. That was a good win for a young Champion in Tyson a win over a HOFer and a great HW in that. Don't try to discredit that win and Tyson he was great. He would have gave Lewis all he could hnadle in their primes......Lefty

The poll agrees with you my man just look at the results they are pretty much even. I just think Lewis had a suspect chin although he showed grit in his fight against Vitali. I think if the fight would have happened before Tyson went to Jail say in 1992 Tyson was 25-26 then and lewis was 26-27 Tyson would have took him....Lefty
