Calzaghe was a great fighter. The Byron Mitchell fight proved that he had the heart and after the fight he stated that he wanted unification fights only but Warren couldn't deliver them.

He has a handpicked career, but he still has two great names on his resume. You have to give him his due, sooner or later.

i didnt say he wasnt, he's a terrific fighter, maybe not an ATG, but a good fighter.

i was just pointing out to someone, that just because a fighter is undefeated doesnt make him great.

Joe gets less respect than the jacked up American fighters that have used steroids.

Calzaghe was a very good boxer but you can't hide in England with your WBO belt for 10 years and then fight the other "greats" once their broken down. Calzaghe's situation is similar to that of Boise State's in College Football. Now Calzaghe is clearly very good as he did beat Kessler and Bika quite handily but the #1 SMW should have more to hang his hat on than that.

                what makes a great fighter?

according to some on here Mayweather is cherry picking his fights - is he an all time great?

Mayweather's Cherrypicked competition is much better than Calzaghe's.

as opposed to what? Calzaghe isn't a good traveller, he is scared of flying.

and fact is the Hopkins fight would have went on years ago if Hopkins hadn't priced himself out of the fight. The only reason they did fight is because Hopkins had no one else to fight that would make him money.

Jones was offered $5m (£3.5m) to fight Calzaghe by Showtime, but renewed his contract with Showtime's rivals HBO, which left Calzaghe only to unify the super middleweight division. Only when he did that did Hopkins and Jones come calling.

That is a fact and some Calzaghe haters need to live up to that.
