HBO wanted Manfredo to fight Calzaghe. Unfortunately, it's a sad state of affairs when Contenders are better known than current champions, and Manfredo was quite well known in England from The Contender series. Crappy fight, but I understand the reasons behind it.

He was a great puncher before the hand damage set in. Having to change your style mid way through your career can't be easy, either, so I give respect for the fact that he coped well and kept on winning!!
