Look, I understand Marquez is moving up and that's a disadvantage but we're talking about the pound for pound list. That means a mythological level regardless of actual weight. The fact that Marquez decided- yes, he himself wanted the fight against Floyd and signed on for it- to take on Mayweather, he's risking his pound for pound status.

The better question I don't hear anyone asking is- does Marquez dethrone Pacquiao if he wins? I mean, he'd had captured a belt like Manny did against Diaz against Baby Bull, then have beaten Floyd- who we can all agree is better than Hatton. I think Oscar aside, that's a real possiblity.

Marquez won't get passed Mayweather, Marquez got too much balls and the paycheck is too much to refuse. We won't have to worry about him pulling an upset off because he can't, and he won't. You can bump this topic if I end up being wrong. MARQUEZ HAS 0 PERCENT CHANCE TO pull an upset off.

That's your opinion and you might very well be right.

My stance is- if Floyd beats Marquez he becomes #2 pound for pound.

If Marquez beats Floyd, though, I think he takes Pacquiao's top spot and becomes #1 pound for pound. This is one of the reasons he took the fight.

You're wrong. It's not a 0% chance. You're not giving Marquez his credit. Floyd isn't a power puncher. Yes, he might be too big for Juan Manuel Marquez, but let's wait until fight night to make that pronouncement as a certainty.

What does Marquez do better then floyd? Nothing... Speed? No, power? No! Defense? No! Timing, might actually be where they're equals at but timing isn't enough to beat someone like floyd.

Now what does Manny Pacquiao posses? Speed, Power, Movements, and timing. I personally think Manny has improved over time and Marquez is just the same Marquez who got good wins over good fighters like Diaz, Casamayor, but was competitive with both of them. Both of those fighters were in those fights.

I'm not going to argue with someone who is already sure of their point. There's no point. You're counting out Marquez without merit, though. The odds may be stacked against him, but he's a live opponent. A good, smaller man who is going to give 100% percent in a way Floyd usually doesn't need to.
