I think he was on that "I got away from that life sucking ***** ****". Or he put all his anger and aggression from the martial trouble into his preperation to the fight.

In that fight it looked like he put all his hatred for his ex-wife taking his hard earned cash into his right hand.

No, I think this was simply a case of a trainer coming up with the perfect game plan (Richardson) and the fighter executing it. Cotto could have done something similar if he fought the same way shane did. What was the main thing missing between the two fights? Cotto didn't clinch, Mosley did. Mosely was SMART about when he took his shots and even smarter when he wrapped tony up. By doing this he never allowed tony to get in the fight and he was simply unable to get his shots off.

No different than a 43 year old hopkins beating the **** out of 26 year old kelly pavlik. Just a perfect gameplan with perfect execution.

Margarito, like Pavlik, are fairly simple if you really break their styles down. Forward fighters that pound away at their opponents. Give them lateral movements, tie them up when need be, take away their set up shots (the 1, 2's) and be smart about when you attack and they can be beat.

Yeah, I remember thinking his mental state might have something to do with his focus. You would think that having marital trouble would hinder Shane, but if he heard the mutterings from the doubters, had his wife walk away and tell him she was done, etc. - maybe he had a big chip on his shoulder. The type of energy that says, 'Well, I'm either going to die or win. Might as well.'

Margarito probably felt that in the ring, too.

mosley looked great against margarito but that was mainly due to styles. mosley def is not the same fighter he was but he's still good enough to beat pretty much anyone out there. which is quite amazing.

on the flip side think about margarito's mind state - he just got caught trying to load his gloves. And lets assume for second that margarito has been padding his gloves for some time. His confidence could have been destroyed because he knew he was without his "secret weapon."
