It's a tune up fight because of his long layoff.

If he need a tune-up fight why not Andre berto (welterweight)or Timothy Bradley(jr. wel). Why Marquez a lightweight?

not to say count Marquez out ..
but the longer he waits on a pacman fight the more money there will be.

            because he wants a tune-up...

            why?

because of his 2 years inactivity...

            why?

            because he retired...

            why?

to avoid legitimate challengers in his own weightclass...

            why?

because he is of losing his "0"

            why?

because that "0" is whats keeping him relevant, after manny pacquiao made his biggest wins & accomplishments look pretty average...

It's a sad tune-up. Sad because the p4p no.2 should never be a tune-up but JMM is when he is forced to move up 2 weight classes.

Sad is also the fact that it makes economical sense for Floyd since the fight is being sold as a battle for p4p supremacy and it'll probably do well since the average fan will be fooled into thinking that the fight is legit. I think most real fans would like for Floyd to commit himself to being a welterweight and have a tune-up against a top 10 contender instead.

Floyd haters are ridiculous sometimes. Fighters do this all the time. Come back afer a long lay off and you either:

a/ fight a fighter in the same weight class as you that is a bum
b/ fight a name fighter you are a bit bigger than

To Floyd's credit, he's fighting option B, but picked the number 2 P4P fighter who is a legit legend.
