I just re-watched Cotto vs Margarito...

And those two really ****ed each other up. We all saw that margarito (plaster or not) lost a step in the Mosley fight, and from watching the punishment cotto took, I suspect he as well might be damaged goods. Man it was crazy and straight up old school though how Margarito just kept walking through Cottos best shots and kept running towards him keeping the pressure on. be that as it may I suspect they are both damaged goods.

We won't know for sure about Cotto until he fights Clottey. Personally, I think he is over it. He catches a lot of heat for taking a knee on here by the highly reputable boxing warriors [sarcasm]. But, that stoppage may have saved his career.

Margarito is just done period, pre-Mosley or not.

when evaluating punishment.. remember that the majority of shots Cotto took where to the body. He did get busted up in the face pretty bad later on (and it's worst if there was plaster in those gloves) but for the most part Margarito took most the head shots.

In this fight Cotto was landing some eye catching punches but he was not getting full power on them (especially as the fight wore on) so they looked better then they really were. Was a great fight to watch though.

I do not think the fight messed up Margarito although it probably did not help him any, I think his mind got messed up with the whole wrap thing minutes before the fight. I also think that he though he was just going to steam roll Mosley, which probably did not help when Mosley actually showed up to fight.

You might be right though maybe Cotto did take something out of him but if it was that I would think it would be an accumulation of all the beatings he took in his career and not just that specific one.

Now you are starting to sound like Steve Bunce.

Cotto is not done. I hope you give Cotto his props when he wins and I hope you don't diss Clottey after. BTW, who made your sigi? That is the best sigi I have seen on here yet.

Thats true the body shots did him in, but he was eating serious leather to the head for the last three rounds. Also it is clear as day margarito aint the same anymore and can no longer take flush shots to the head for 12 rounds, however seeing as I just rewatched the fight I believe those knees Cotto took could have saved his career. It was clear he had nothing left and would not win the fight, and even if he had made it out of the 11th he would have ended up unconscious and carried out on a stretcher by the beginning of the 12th. I know its a little too early on Cottos part, but I think the guy may be ****ed up as well. We will see in june.
