Do you buy this? I'm skeptical

Here is a quote from the Mayweather press con, tell me what you think. It's regarding why Mayweather opted not to go with Don King, choosing principle over money.

"It doesn't have to be about the millions. What I was getting up front, no fighter has ever got in the history of boxing. What I could have got up front with this fight could have been 100 million dollars total. But guess what, I'd rather do business and stick with the people who were there for me in my rough times like Al Haymon."

Now I've heard some bull****. But this is on another level.

I remember you saying that he said something along those lines, Ryan- and I had to just lol. It's actually not even surprising.

Unless FLoyd has his doubt about the ammoutn that King would pay. 100 million up front is a lot but does King have that kind of dough to just let go of?

Promises of 100 million are great but, if they can be paid is another matter. Also long term it may have been a bad move, depending on the other terms of the deal (tons of upfront money is great but down the road it usually ends up costing you money).

Floyd is talking out of his ass. For 100 million he would sell his kids and dance naked.

He might, but the rest of the contract would be pretty grim for Floyd's earnings (imo). If you really do not pay him much per fight w/o giving PPV upside it is feasable (it is basically focusing his earning in one lump some as opposed to spreading them out).

For someone that know how to manage money well it is a workable scenario, but for Floyd I think he realizes it is better that he gets paid over time (given his propensity to spend money).

i dont think he meant 100 million literally. i think u guys are missing the point. he was tryin to say he would rather do business with the people he trust and will stick by him, then do business with somebody that wont stick by him for more money

valid point...still hard for me to picture DK handing over $100mil...even if he had a sheisty comp plan for all of floyd's fights...but i see your angle...

Depends on the stips. Floyd can maybe make just as much if not more with out having to call King Boss.
