Brewster vs. Haapoja, Meehan vs. Fox on May 30 Card

It will be Finnish and BBU champ Juho Haapoja who face s ex-heavyweight king Lamon Brewster May 30 in Helsinki. On paper Haapoja, 9-2-1, is a huge underdog but Team Haapoja is full of optimism and feel there is a big chance for an upset. There probably is; Brewster looked very slow in losing to Wladimir Klitschko and in beating Michael Sprott but the only time Haapoja has fought anywhere near this level was when he lost to Dennis Bakhtov, a man he´s now sparring with. Kali Meehan is also on the show and face American Cerrone Fox. [details]

Why is someone who is supposedly a CONTENDER, Kali Meehan, facing a low-level clubfighter like Cerrone Fox?

Fox is not even a top 500 heavyweight now. He was probably top 200 when Alexander Povetkin fought him in his SECOND pro fight, and he put up the weakest resistance of any of Sasha's opponents. Since then, Fox has been repeatedly KOed.

Agree with you, but Meehan's record is padded throughout with such bull**** fights. He's fought 38 times and maybe five of them have been against real opposition

Cerrone Fox has lost NINE of his last TEN fights, all losses by KO!

He's been stopped in the first two rounds in his last four.

Meehan vs brewster would have been better.these guys are aging & should be fighting each other.there are many potential fights that could be made between older heavyweights.golota/maskaev,ruiz/Austin,toney/Barret,etc.these would be great undercard fights for a major card or headliners for regional club fights.meehan & brewster should not be fighting this level of competition at this stage of their careers.sprott was ok for a first fight back but fox or this Finnish champ is ridiculous & does little to help them prepare themselves to contend.

I believe meehan fought the same bum in new Zealand 3 or 4 times, mainy because of a lack of opponents.it's a surprise meehan does as well as he does.brewster/meehan 2 would be better

              Record-padding, waiting for a big payday/title shot...

That strategy worked for Shannon Briggs, didn't for David Tua

Meehan is age 39 now. Being a Don King fighter, he has long months between fights.

If he ever wants to have a chance at a world title, he can't waste time with any more opponents like Cerrone Fox.

But im happy that Brewster stays active. He needs to fight all 2-3 months for the rest of this year to shake all rust off and get in shape, and then he could face a Top10 guy in an elimination bout. I think he can still be a verry dangerous opponent for anyone beside the Klits.

He was so slow in the fight with Sprott... Maybeif he stays active he can come back, but he can`t win a championship anymore... Well in WBA maybe...

I was so excited when i saw that terrific left hook that sent Sprott on the canvas.... and i was so dissapointed, because Brewster didn`t develop his succes...

P.S. a great opponent for Kali Meehan!!! Well done!!!
