I don't get why people think it is so wrong, who else is going to look out for your interests if not you.

IF you think the commission is lax (which they pretty much are because they think it is good enough), you have to take matters into your own hands.

I fail to see the big deal.

Floyd came up the right way in boxing. Started at young age, went though the Amateur system, went to the Olympics. Hopkins had a bit of boxing experience, and went to Prison. This is where most guys are done and doomed. He came out and never came back, instead transformed himself into a Great fighter.

Great trainers? Yea he has Richardson now- who appears to be a great communicator at wordplay, but I wouldn't classify that as having the "best trainers". Most great fighters get money thrown at them after the Olympics. Promoters sponsor them and pay for their training camp and hire better trainers. Hopkins didn't have this coming up. He is a independent, street smart, crafty guy, the way he presents himself in interviews reflects those smarts. He came up pretty much on his own.

The way Floyd presents himself, reflects that he might be a Michael Jackson Candy land, irrational person. Yes MJ was great at what he does, might even be classified as Genius of our time in Music. Yes ironically, another guy who got pushed into that line of work by Daddy.
Yes but what about in the ring smartness? Hopkin's is smart when it coems to studying, but a lot of what ****m does is also helpful.
Hopkin's has had Roach before also.
Floyd has Uncle Roger now, who is not the best either. Roger has trained who else to make them to the top?

I agree he has sharp words and gives intelligent reasons to why someone will win, but you said smart fighter. This is why I talk about in the ring.

Being smart outside the ring doesn't mean you will be smart outside. After all they are fighters. You can look at many things such as how comes Floyd has made millions more than Hopkin's? Is it because he is smart to play the audience as the bad guy? But I don't because I am talking in the ring.

Floyd has ring smarts for sure. He can dominate like at 130, like Hopkins at 160. He can fight on the back foot VS Oscar or Hatton. He can fight controlling the centre VS Mosely, or coutner punching the life out of JMM. He can make adjustments VS a faster guy who is a southpaw in Judah.

He is smart, and I would say in the top, even more than Hopkin's, because he has won most rounds and is undefeated. Hopkin's and Taylor are not great at anything in particular, and Hopkin's lost close fights. I believe he could have done more to win in there. It's adjustments in close rounds that makes you that little bit smarter.

No doubt Hopkin's is 2nd for ring intelligence, but he is also a dirty fighter at times. Very rough.

After 40 fights? All of a sudden he found his calling and wants to be an activist for better testing in boxing and wants to clean the sport up?

Sorry, I'm not that gullible. I don't find all the fault in Floyd but definitely he set the tone with the PED accusations, I would flip out as well if someone was accusing me of something I didn't do.

Instead of seeing Manny vs Floyd already on May 1st, we saw Manny beat up Margarito, sad what we have to witness because two fighters can't let their ego's go and make this thing happen.

Ok, I'm out, ready for the weekend. Peace out to everyone.

        • K *****s, answer one thing.... What can you do in 7 days that's gonna help big time as far as Peds go? That's right, it ain't gonna do a damn thing. This is what it is... Since David Diaz, manny has beaten the **** outta every fighter badly cept clottey who was a turtle the whole fight. And I bet Floyd has it in the back of his mind he could potentially get the ass whoopin of his life if he doesn't fight a perfect fight against manny, just like manny has to fight the perfect fight against Floyd. But it's the potential that pacquiao has and the way he's been beating his opponents is what I think has Floyd shook. Floyd knows not only he could lose but he could get the whoopin of his career by this Filipino midget. No fighter can benefit for 7 days grace period of no testing leading up to a fight. Wtf you gonna do in 7 days? He agreed to 7 when he first asked for 14 days. So I ask again.. You *****s think 7 days cut off ain't enough? What you gonna do in 7 days floyd stans? I understand you wanna be loyal and stand by your dude but enoughs enough. The logical Floyd fans are starting to realize floyds real agenda and admitting his cowardice

              • The ability to throw 1 extra punch in the whole of the fight is to much if not gained through their own means.

Any advantage gained illicitly is to much.

Which is irrelevant. Roach said it himself, that Hopkins knew more about boxing than him, there was nothing he could really teach him.

Floyd has Uncle Roger now, who is not the best either. Roger has trained who else to make them to the top?
Exactly. Roger is a terrible trainer who lives off of Floyd. Floyd doesn't need a great communicator either, because he isn't that intelligent type who listens to anybody anyway. Giving him instructions would be a waste of time, he will do what he wants to do. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. Like I said, he wins fights based on impulse. He's got the tools to win on impulse without trainers instructions or studying tapes, but most fighters can't do that.

I agree he has sharp words and gives intelligent reasons to why someone will win, but you said smart fighter. This is why I talk about in the ring.

Not always, but I'd say most of the times. Wlad and Vitali are pretty much similar to Hopkins. Smart in the ring, and outside of it.

After all they are fighters. You can look at many things such as how comes Floyd has made millions more than Hopkin's? Is it because he is smart to play the audience as the bad guy? But I don't because I am talking in the ring.
To answer this question, you would have to get past generalizations and get to the specifics. Is Floyd self-promoting or did he had a great manager from the get-go, and two of the Top Promoters of our time behind him?

The bad guy routine? Hey Hopkins tried this in his own way (throwing down flag of Puerto Rico vs Tito), pushing and shoving Winky Wright at the weigh-in to try and boost PPV sales. Floyd is a natural ******, it's not that hard to take it a bit over the top. His undefeated record is the selling point, not his most-of-the-time annoying self-promos. I'm more entertained and have a better listen to 10 minutes of Hopkins talking, than anything dumb that comes out of Floyd's mouth:

Floyd has ring smarts for sure. He can dominate like at 130, like Hopkins at 160. He can fight on the back foot VS Oscar or Hatton. He can fight controlling the centre VS Mosely, or coutner punching the life out of JMM. He can make adjustments VS a faster guy who is a southpaw in Judah.
This is all circumstantial evidence, of what they do in the ring. Yet again, nothing that changes what I said. One guy studies his opponent left and right, and can break his entire style down to a tea if asked during interviews. The other guy claims not to study at all and will simply improvise/adjust accordingly in the ring. And as I said, it's fine, he is arrogant but he gets away with it, FOR NOW. Roy Jones did it too (playing basketball in the morning, championship fight in the evening) until it didn't work anymore.

He is smart, and I would say in the top, even more than Hopkin's, because he has won most rounds and is undefeated.
And I disagree with your premise. Him being undefeated and winning more rounds has no basis on him being smarter. Other factors (which I already pointed out) are involved.

Hopkin's and Taylor are not great at anything in particular, and Hopkin's lost close fights. I believe he could have done more to win in there. It's adjustments in close rounds that makes you that little bit smarter.
You're right, Hopkins and Taylor are not great at anything in particular. Hopkins himself though pointed out that Taylor is a clueless, country boy. I agree with him, that's the difference. Taylor had youth and some talent on his side. A very good jab he carried over from his Amateur days. Hopkins isn't perfect and lost two close fights (one which I had him winning). And we all know who fell off of those two after those fights, and who is still competing at a high level, a credit to intelligence.

No doubt Hopkin's is 2nd for ring intelligence, but he is also a dirty fighter at times. Very rough.

Fighting dirty is intelligent. Having the presence of mind to hit a guy in the kidney, or low-blow him while the ref is turned to the other side and can't see is pretty damn smart. I'm surprised you couldn't connect the two considering you think Floyd's in-ring adjustments are a sign of intelligence according to you.

This has been fun, over and out for now, it's jogging time. I'll check back later.

Its just that, but seems to show no interest in cleaning up the sport for other fighters. He's only concerned about himself and his own fights. That is why I question his sincerity over this issue.

Yes they have been done in boxing before, see Tyson-Holyfield or Universum in Germany~

It is about a decade behind the times is what is wrong with it~ and I have no issue with a fighter wanting better testing because no one else is going to ask for it and you have to look out for number 1.

The fight would have been done if Manny didn't flip the fuck out also.

                      So once again,

About this specific fight so much shit has been said by both sides that I don't see how you find so much fault with one person but whatever to each his own.
If it was a full fledged welterweight fight at 147 pounds,

why did Floyd have to pay a fine for being overweight?

The majority of people find fault with Floyd as he is the one who has put up roadblocks for not just this fight, but others as well.
