Exactly this! Wouldn't give Oscar a rematch. So he "retired" knowing that if he didn't rematch DLH, he was facing a prime Pac, Cotto, Mosley, Paul Williams, Margarito. There was literally nowhere to run, so he steps into retirement so they can wear one another down and come back to make fights well after their primes. Some suffered losses, so in Mayweather's eyes that automatically disqualified them. Makes a come back versus a JMM coming up two weight classes and a catch weight that he refused to make weight for. An entire career built upon smoke and mirrors. Flash over substance.
