Froch and Bute are deep into negotiations - parts of the UK media are already saying the fight will happen in the UK in the first two weeks of September, with a 2am start to accomodate Showtime. But that could be switched to Montreal easy I would think.

Ward is ready for someone like Froch but it doesn't hurt to fight someone like Balzsay for a title before moving onto the big guns.

in that case, I think it would be better still for Ward to fight Andrade or Mundine than Balzsay while waiting for the froch-bute winner.

Andrade is injured and is Bute's mandatory. Mundine is @160

the fight would make more money in Montreal. Bute was selling out Arena's in Montreal when he was fighting no-names. A fight with Froch would be huge here. I don't know if anyone even knows who Bute is in UK. In montreal, both fighters will be well known. We have a hardcore boxing fanbase in this city.

Balzsay seems like a good move for Ward. Balzsay is likely the weakest of the current crop of SMW titleholders. By getting a belt Ward will be well-positioned for the coming unification fights in this stacked division.

Still the hungarian is no push-over. He's a crafty well skilled southpaw and should give Ward a stiff test.

He's the IBO holder. It could be that Ward feels that this belt carries to little prestige. It could also be that Ward is ready to pick up a big pay-check by fighting Balszay in Germany. Bika likely doesn't bring a lot of cash.

I find it funny that Balzsay has just recently won his title and is being talked about fighting the hot young Americans Ward and Dirrell.

It makes me wonder how Erdei has held onto his WBO belt for so many years without a similar challenge.
