Are the fighters really 10-15 pounds heavier in the ring?

    depends on the weight.

15 lbs. is a lot for flyweights and bantamweights but it's nothing for the light heavyweights and cruiserweights.

i think most guys can weight drain up to about 10% of their body weight without hurting themself too much.

wrestlers drain almost double the weight boxers do but it's a different sport.

I don't really believe what they say the unofficial weights are. Even though Pac destroyed him I honestly think Hatton was much more than 4lbs heavier than him in the ring.

Who knows? He might have put a few gold nuggets in his pockets. That might be possible and also likely as you shouldn't overlook the intimidation-factor. If your opponent think that he's outweighed by 10 lbs he might tremble a little.

It's probably more likely that that is what happened as gaining close to 20 pounds seems very difficult and unhealthy.

I agree, Cotto looks very heavy after weigh in just like you just said.

Fact is Toney was unhealthy in that fight, so 185 is not surprising at all.

              Really? Gamache didn't huh?

Remeber what happened at Corrales/Castillo 2 after the first weigh in.

Fighters care about fight night weight.

Unofficial weigh ins on fight night give a lot away about what the fighter is comfortable fighting at.

I cannot really remember exactly, but wasn't there some controversy at Gatti's weigh-in for the Gamache fight? Did he make the stipulated weight?

Clottey put on 23 pounds the day after the weigh in for the Corrales fight. Some fighters have to lose a ton of water weight to make the limit and most fighters have to abstain from eating whatever they want. So they're gonna go all out on eating since it's the first time in months where they can and Dan Rafael said that he saw Ricky Hatton drink like 5-10 bottles of some type of water after the Pacquiao weigh in.

There's no hidden agenda in this thread. I just think in reality they probably end up closer to the weight limit than what is told. Water weight is as easy to lose as it is to pack on.
Its true. Fighters really come in 10-15 pounds above weight. Its rare to find those who dont, normally those guys are the people who have a track record of moving up in weight throughout their career.

But all in all, fighters really do come in 10-15 pounds above the weight limit of their division. Hell, and that isn't even their NATURAL weight. It's just water weight + whatever they ate after the weigh ins.
