Remeber what happened at Corrales/Castillo 2 after the first weigh in.

Fighters care about fight night weight.
fighters don't care when they get on the unofficial scales , schmuck.

as in they could were flip flops or sweats or whatever when they step on the scale.

as in they don't worry about going over any limit when it's an unofficial weigh in.

Yes they need to drop it or get wised up to the process because the ignorance about weight on this board is amazing . people that say who cares what weight they are actually fighting at on the night means nothing yet dehydrated weight the day before is what matters need to think about what they are actually saying as its the most ****** comment Ive ever read on this forum , how can you judge the fighting merits of one guy when he is silently giving away up to 20 pound in weight in the fight , its laughable it really is !! for those people read this article slowly .

" Jim Watt, former lightweight champion of the world turned television pundit is one of the most vocal supporters of same-day weighing in. He is one of a growing minority of people within the sport who feel that the dangers of having huge weight discrepancies between fighters are greater than the dangers of dehydration.

Watt argues that too many fighters step off the scales to go on a 24-36 hour binge and pack on as much weight as possible before the first bell. He believes it is a case of a good theory making bad practice.

"Don't get me wrong, the idea is good," said Watt when I telephoned him. "Many of the dangers of boxing have been linked with dehydration, and so giving fighters 24 hours to re-hydrate their bodies therefore must be a good idea on paper.

"But the problem is that this time period is getting abused. Fighters who should not dream of fighting at certain weights are punishing their bodies, murdering themselves, to make the limit and then rely on this period of up to 36 hours to get back up to something like normal again.

"If they had to weigh in on the day of the fight, and if they wanted to fight with any sort of strength, they would be forced to fight at a more healthy weight for their bodies. This 24-36 hour period is giving fighters a lot of incentive to fight at the wrong weight."

And the dangers are exacerbated when only one fighter packs in the pounds. "When someone fights for a title at 12 stone [168lbs], that's exactly what he's supposed to be - a 12 stone fighter. He's not supposed to be a bloody cruiserweight. It's totally unfair to those boxing at a more natural weight - the ones who aren't taking these silly chances with their health. Sometimes these guys are giving away a full stone in weight and I don't need to say that's dangerous. They are at a massive disadvantage. Essentially these fellows are punished for been sensible and abiding by the rules."

anyone know how long they diet and dehydrate themselves for? I remember for wrestling in hs I only drank small sips of water and ate a small bag of carrots for about 2 days to drop weight. Is that comparable to what they do? I know they need their energy and they train all the way up to the fight.

i was talking about they don't care as in they don't care about the weigh in.

they could be wearing their chains and **** when they weigh in unofficially.

because the unofficial weigh in doesn't matter.

i wasn't talking about in fight weights and advantages and disadvantages.

i was talking about they don't care about the unofficial weigh in as in they don't have to strip down to get on the scale.

next time pay attention before you start rambling on about something that a person wasn't even talking about.

The real process starts 72 hrs out from the fight but the weight is kept in check the last few weeks , remember we are working with a super trained body that are elite athletes , depending on the fighter its variable , like somebody as big as Marg or Williams will use laxatives and diuretics , they can also sodium pack for a few days where sodium will retain water which is good for training and then they cut the sodium and result the body will lose water more than standard volume , salt loading is an old method today is much more scientific and refined .

Some fighters abuse the 30 hrs to gain a huge weight advantage over the opponent that does not go to great lengths to dry out , the perfect example Floyd and Pac in the WW division fighting WWs that actually step in at MW after the dehydration .

This chain of effects is the very reason Catch weight fights will appear more and more , the fighters and trainers are not ignorant to the advantages that can be had so the little guys want catch weight to fair it up on the night of the fight .

I paid attention to what you had to say. You made it sound like the unofficial weight has nothing to do with what a fighter weighs on fight night.

Naturally I expect you to claim that was not your intention, in which case you can expect my apologies for second guessing.
