The pictures don't lie...Cotto at 147 looks a lot better then at 140...If you can't see that your blind.
Nobody is saying poor Cotto...I'm saying if you want to fight WW's and be P4P and win belts at the WW division fight at 147.
If your to small to fight at WW... fight at 140...It's full of small WW's that why it's called the Jr. WW division.
and leave the big boys to handle big boy business.
IF you fight at 160 as Cotto does why dont he fight as a MW , I will tell you its because the rules can be abused to allow him to basicly lose an arm in water so he say me WW only to put it back so now me MW , so are you blind
by the way I didnt say how he looked I said he dont fight at either of those weights .
" Jim Watt, former lightweight champion of the world turned television pundit is one of the most vocal supporters of same-day weighing in. He is one of a growing minority of people within the sport who feel that the dangers of having huge weight discrepancies between fighters are greater than the dangers of dehydration.
Watt argues that too many fighters step off the scales to go on a 24-36 hour binge and pack on as much weight as possible before the first bell. He believes it is a case of a good theory making bad practice.
"Don't get me wrong, the idea is good," said Watt when I telephoned him. "Many of the dangers of boxing have been linked with dehydration, and so giving fighters 24 hours to re-hydrate their bodies therefore must be a good idea on paper.
"But the problem is that this time period is getting abused. Fighters who should not dream of fighting at certain weights are punishing their bodies, murdering themselves, to make the limit and then rely on this period of up to 36 hours to get back up to something like normal again.
"If they had to weigh in on the day of the fight, and if they wanted to fight with any sort of strength, they would be forced to fight at a more healthy weight for their bodies. This 24-36 hour period is giving fighters a lot of incentive to fight at the wrong weight."
And the dangers are exacerbated when only one fighter packs in the pounds. "When someone fights for a title at 12 stone [168lbs], that's exactly what he's supposed to be - a 12 stone fighter. He's not supposed to be a bloody cruiserweight. It's totally unfair to those boxing at a more natural weight - the ones who aren't taking these silly chances with their health. Sometimes these guys are giving away a full stone in weight and I don't need to say that's dangerous. They are at a massive disadvantage. Essentially these fellows are punished for been sensible and abiding by the rules."
So your point is that they shouldnt fight...I feel the same way.
But Manny wants a 147 belt to establish himself as an ATG or have another big name on his Resume...Fight the Man not the Scales.
Well then it should be 147 weigh-in right before the fight ,, if it were Cotto would not take the fight , he wants a big weight advantage and Pac dont want to give it to him .
Pac will fight Floyd anyway and its a fair better fight .
Cotto does not fight at those weights he only dehydrates to them 30 hrs before the fight , poor Cotto he will only be 160 on the night while ***** Pac will be under 147 ,,, get the true perspective of whats really going on here .
HAHAHAHA to those thinking Pacquiao will fight Cotto at welterweight. Cotto has no decision power here, no matter what you say. He takes the fight or he doesn't, true but it's Pacquiao who's the #1 p4p fighter in the world, not Cotto. Pacquiao hasn't been fighting Jennings or Gomez type of fighters in the last few years, he's been making boxing HISTORY. So Cotto, take the fight or don't take the fight. If you think he looks too skinny at 142 cut a leg or something and then you can make 142 no problems :P

I see what your saying Manny Paq is the Draw he's the one that controls and sets the stipulations for the fight and I agree.
I think Cotto should pass and fight Mosley again...
Freddie Roach doesn't want any of Miguel Cotto or Shane Mosley thats why he basicly is weighing his fighter out of the fight.
