How many fighters have died since December 2006?

There has been 1,300 fighters that have loss there lives due to injuries sustained in a boxing match as of December 2006. The number is higher now of course. Do u believe that fighters only having roughly 24 hours to rehydrate has something to due to alot of these deaths? Me personally yes I do believe it does. I believe that fighters should have no less than 2 days to rehydrate before a fight.

Boxing is one of the oldest sports in history. Learn the basics of boxing, how you win or lose, the science behind it and the danger of the sport.

There are numerous cases in which a boxer has died in the ring or shortly after a fight as a result of injuries sustained in the ring. They include Gerald Mclellan
The G Man is in rough shape, but he's not dead.

There are far more dangerous professions. Logging, for one. Firefighter, high steel worker...

Everything is geared towards keeping fighters safe, but sometimes things do wrong, as they do in every day life all the time.

More people die monthly in car wrecks in a couple of weeks, but I don't see anyone trying to ban cars.

No ones trying to ban Boxing just thought it was an amazingly high number and did not realize that many have died from boxing. I love boxing and will watch it till I die, I just think that it would help to some degree if they gave fighters 2 days to rehydrate to help with them to not get blood clots....etc.

I wouldn't have any problem with 2 days personally, but the weight classes would undergo more changes if that happened, I think.

And yes, there has been talk of banning "bloodsports", though nothing serious lately.

lol. Regardless of how fatal boxing is, I do want to point out that fighting dehydrated underweight fighters is ****ed up. Comparable to loaded gloves in my opinion, only difference is the other guy agrees to it.

How about just going back to same day weigh ins and fighting in the correct division? 2 day before weigh ins would just encourage fighters to drain down ever further than they do now and would be equally as dangerous.

Exactly If they just fought in there on weight class that would eliminate some of the problem however, there would not be our Pacquiao's vs. Hatton and Maybeweather vs. JMM or De la retired vs. Pacquiao....etc. two days would give the fighters plenty of time to rehydrate and that would help with the blood clots that have killed so many boxers. All a boxer wants to do is drain down to make weight not go below the weight. Then the re hydrating process begins and 1 day just is not enough time to get your body re hydrated properly.
