Went to the Mayweather-Marquez Press Conference Today...

And the one thing I noticed was hot little buzz there was for the fight. Really no one in the room was buying the idea that this was a competitive, compelling fight that the world should stop for.

Mayweather wasn't his usual arrogant, polarizing self, which pretty much made for a dull event. Marquez spoke better English than I thought he would but he wasn't about to electrify anyone with his words.

Jim Rome on his tv show was talking about how boring Mayweather has been. He even told him to "step ya game up."

From all the interviews that have been posted today it seems PBF's mission statement is a bit unclear. One minute he's all about the fans, the next he's all about his legacy and finally he's all about the checks. He's taken a slightly more modest approach than typically but he's a bit more confusing this time around.

I still don't know the weight for the fight, and when he said he was coming back because the fans were clamoring for it, I heard a lot of people clearing their throats in the audience.

As another thread mentioned it seems like he's having a bit of a personality change. Maybe he got over the extreme ****iness in his time off with family and away from boxing(although he's obviously still very confident). I have a feeling he'll really turn up the intensity on the home stretch. I don't think he anticipated that the media would be so critical of him right now. I bet he also assumed they would be more willing to buy into his claims of #1.. They're not falling in line very well. He's a little taken aback by this.

Mayweather has just grown out of his teenager phase.

sounds about right... I think floyd though that his come back was gonna be glamorous and triumphant, but he might be lowering his expectations.

Yeah.. That's what I was thinking but he's was still acting that way at 30. Perhaps he needs a new W under his belt before he bounces back fully. I think when HBO cameras are there he'll come back in full effect. However, reconciling with his father and the way he's spoken about the major boxing players recently suggests as you've said he's grown up a bit.(or atleast calmed down)
