Mangler, you're whole "WW's should fight WW's" thing is just messed up.
If you follow that logic, we cut out half of the greatest fights/fighters we've ever seen. You are too protective of your favorite fighters (whoever they may be).. You should be supportive of them and happy to see them chase their legacy.
You think people were sheltering Duran when he was moving up weight classes? Did people think that Henry Armstrong should make everybody move down to fight him? Lol.. Get real homie. This is BOXING. A fighters sport. You don't have to baby these fighters, they are grown ass men who can make their own decisions.. Nobody puts guns to their heads.
I ain't protective of my favorite fighters. Hence me not reppin Mr boat buyer no more. I wanted to see him fight the toughest comp at WW and still do. He refuses. And Cotto should fight SSM again if he beats Clottey. Clottey should want SSM too if he wins.Comment

You say JMM is 2 or 3 weight classes above his weight class as if you're his physical therapist.. It's not like Mayweather made him move up to fight all those people in the different weight classes. Whatever weight JMM is fighting at, I'm pretty sure he's comfortable at, especially considering his track record in the recent past. JMM was at 135 of his OWN accord, and came in at 141 pounds against Juan Diaz without "Mr. Boat Buyer" telling him to.. So like I said, let them make their own career decisions, and stop acting like fighters are forcing the other ones to fight them at a certain weight. They don't need to be sheltered.Comment

Fighters moving up and down in weight is apart of boxing.Comment

And why are you referencing Mosley in this? He's benching himself to get a fight with somebody like Pac or Mayweather.Comment

At welterweight, a division where there is a good amount of world class talent, this makes some sense. But most divisions are pretty weak and/or top heavy. The reason why is because there are just way too many divisions. They're also set up artificially. For example, neither Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather's optimal weight are 140 or 147. I bet you something like 137 or 138 is Pacquiao's best weight and I bet you Mayweather's is probably something like 142.
The fact that there is a 140 lb division just distracts people. 140 itself is a catchweight because the real divisions are 135 and 147. It's just that now we have so many catchweight divisions that we con ourselves into believing that those are real divisions. The truth is so many fighters make a mockery of the weight division system as it is right now that for the most part it doesn't even matter what weight most fights are at. The better fighter wins.Comment
