Catch weights are nothing new and to tell you the truth I like them better than pretending like the weight classes even mean anything anymore. There are 17 of them. If weight classes actually meant anything we'd either have 8 like the old days or 11 like the amateurs do. At least that way you could really respect a move up in weight below 147. The way it is now, I could give ****. You can weigh in at 122 and fight at 142 then weigh in at 130 and fight at 147 then weigh in at 142 and fight at 148 and claim that you're moving so far up in weight.

Mangler, you're whole "WW's should fight WW's" thing is just messed up.

If you follow that logic, we cut out half of the greatest fights/fighters we've ever seen. You are too protective of your favorite fighters (whoever they may be).. You should be supportive of them and happy to see them chase their legacy.

You think people were sheltering Duran when he was moving up weight classes? Did people think that Henry Armstrong should make everybody move down to fight him? Lol.. Get real homie. This is BOXING. A fighters sport. You don't have to baby these fighters, they are grown ass men who can make their own decisions.. Nobody puts guns to their heads.

All the fighters you mentioned moved up and fought their opponents' natural weight class. Pac fighting a potentially weight-drained Cotto and Mosley is ridiculous. Mr boat buyer fighting JMM at 2-3 weight classes above his weight class is ridiculous as well.
