is floyds power underrated?

Yeah, but in 2002 and 2003 people were saying similar things about Floyd against lightweights and above like Jose Luis Castillo, Victor Sosa, etc. They were saying that if Floyd went up to 140 and fought Ricky Hatton or Kostya Tszyu he'd get bullied because he didn't have enough power in his feather fists to keep them off. These same people used this argument while promising that Floyd would lose to Philip Ndou and Arturo Gatti.

The truth is that he's just not a big puncher at pretty much any weight. He has to hit dudes right on the spot to hurt them. But the good thing for him is that he's one of the few dudes whose got the skills to land many quick accurate punches in most of his fights.

At the higher weights he just doesn't risk it, he won't stand in the pocket like he used to cause he doesn't have to. I think he has the power to hurt WW's, but it's just not how he fights above 140. And it's hard to blame him.

obviously he's not a monster puncher, but he does hit pretty hard. No doesnt have power like cotto who will hurt with every punch but cause floyd has great speed and superb timing his shots seem that much harder.
He ko'd ricky hatton bad and buckled a non weight drained oscar once when on the ropes.
I'd say his power is pretty good but with his brittle hands he's not goin to load up with every shot.

His power is not UNDERRATED he is not a strong WW puncher. he might have a slight power advantage over jmm.

floyd has good pop for 130-135. not great though.

he pretty much has to hit you right on the button to ko people.

guys with good power hurt guys with glancing blows and shots that are not really on the spot.

floyd's hands is just too brittle. one of his few weaknesses.

Floyd has power, not devastating but enough to do what he has to do. It kills me when people were saying he was feather fisted. He just went through a period when he was cautious due to him having hurt hands but when he needs to send a message he can with his power.

he has power , not great power but power he does have,

i dont know if he has any real power at welterweight, probably not very good power at wweight, or maybe hes featherfisted at welter, i dont know
