Floyd Is Pretty Good, You Know?

Lately the hate towards him on these boards have been crazy. I mean for like the last 5 years there has been steady hate that increases by the day. It was bad even back then and its gotten steadily worse. Look, if you hate the guy for some reason then I can understand that. We can all argue if its justified or not but at the end of the day its eveyone's own opinion so I dont reall mind that too much even though I think some is way off base.

However, whats really got me lately is the specific talk about his boxing ability. He's steadily being ripped for that now. All I see now is threads & post about how all he does is run, all he does is pot shot, he's the most boring fighter of all time, he cant deal with a high workrate, he has trouble with speed, Zab lit him up, Oscar couldve beat him if he had jabbed more, Castillo owns him, he has a glass chin that is just begging to be KO, his power is non existant, he's not nearly the fastest guy anymore, JMM is a much better boxer who will only lose due to size, Floyd will run & pot shot against JMM-Pac-Mosley-Cotto, all he does is pick on small guys, he is the worst star in boxing at drawing, and so many guys would give him hell.

With the way people talk on here you would think that they were talking about a guy who's record is 21-18 with only 3KO's who has no chance against the elite guys. This kid is an ATG who is one of the best, if not thee best fighter of our generation. How is he 39-0 with 25ko's. He has a higher KO percentage than Margarito and thats with him fighting in 5 classes. He's one of the fastest guys of recent memory, his D is top 5 of AT if not higher, he is the only guy in boxing who can throw any offensive punch, he's regarded by many as the most accurate figher in the game, he's regarded by many as the smartest fighter in the game, he's pretty much the only guy that can switch styles from fight to fight or even during the fight, he's a 5 division champ that is regarded as P4P the #1 guy in the sport despite pretty much everyone seemingly hating him, he's had the 2nd biggest PPV numbers in boxing despite being seen as a guy with no drawing power, and he by far gets judged more harshly than anyone. I mean if anyone else wouldve tried coming back at 32 and a half with a nearly 2 year layoff we would be asking a ton of questions about if they are the same, we would be saying that they should fight a bum in there 1st fight, and would cut them a break if they loss with all of that.

With Floyd he better win every fight or everyone would rip him like he was the most overhyped fighter ever. Nevermind the age and layoff, he better win every fight or else. Nevermind that Pac has been weighing the same thing as Floyd since 130, Floyd is way way bigger. Nevermind that Cotto, Williams, Margarito, Clottey, and Mosley all fight at 15-24 pounds heavier than him in the ring, he is a beatch for not fighting them. Nevermind that he's outdrawn Pac by miles his whole career, he's a beatch if he doesnt fight him for 50/50. If the numbers were reversed then no one would say that Floyd deserves 50/50. Floyd has the numbers, is undefeated, and retired at P4P #1 but he doesnt deserve more? How many people in recent memory have never had a smoke or a drink there whole career, and worked out harder than Floyd? Yet he's ripped like he's someone who just gets by on talent. Dude never overlooked anyone, comes in every fight in mad shape despite being rich, and his body looks better then every at 32 with a 2 year layoff. He's been here through it all. Theyve hyped up every fighter around him, they lose, but somehow Floyd is the one that gets ripped while people still sweat the other guys. Other guys have done roids, used plaster, missed weight, have been dropped by lesser opposition, and dont have half the skills as him but he gets ripped. So many fighters talk mad smack but when Floyd does it he's a jerk.

Now you even see threads & post about him vs everyone and he loses nearly every poll or they vote for him and rip him during there post. You have guys on here acting like he would have so much trouble with guys like Juan Diaz at LW? Come on now. Thats flat out disrespectful. I still dont know how he's undefeated when all he does is run and pot shot. You mean to tell me that no one can beat him when he does that? Never? Why dont they just stand still and make Floyd come to them? Surely he cant win by running and throwing 5 punches the whole fight. How did he KO 25 guys? That must be a typo. Zab had him beat if he didnt lose focus after 4 rounds. Anyone else wouldve been praised for how they adjusted. You got fools like Dougie Fischer saying that he's the only one who rips Floyd and the mass media loves him. Where was I? Dude gets ripped by everyone. I mean he's like RJ in that he would go like 5 fights without losing 5 rounds but yet everyone now acts like everyone could beat him or give him hell. Everyone has the style. Diaz can outwork him, JMM is a much better boxer, Pac has too much explosiveness, and so on. Floyd isnt half the chump that people are turning him into. He doesnt have that record or rating for no reason. The truth is that he doesnt pot shot nearly as much as you make it seem. He's had about 5 fights in his career like that. JMM is not a better boxer then Floyd in any way. I dont care what the weight is, he was never on Floyd's level in any catagory. Fact is that Floyd has rarely fought anyone smaller then him. He fights Hatton who has been bigger in his career in every way and Floyd is picking on a smaller man? Despite Floyd starting 2 divisions lower, weighing much less in the ring even though fighting at a higher division, walking around at atleast 30 pounds less outside the ring, and Hatton has a much bigger weight average at WW than Floyd but Floyd picked on the little man? Pac weighed 1 pound more in the ring at 130 than Floyd weighed at WW and only 1 pound less then Floyd weighed at JrMW but Floyd is somehow picking on the little guy while Pac wasnt picking on the little guy in his fights at 130? Im still trying to figure out how that works.

Its funny how Hatton said that he wouldnt move up to fight another WW but they will fight Floyd because they dont feel that he is a WW. Its funny how JMM will move up that high to fight Floyd but would never fight a Mosley or Cotto. Its funny how Roach says that Cotto & Shane have to come down to 140 but they will go up to 145 to fight Floyd. The reason is because they beleive that he is P4P the smallest guy in boxing and has only moved up because he's that skilled. No way he should be doing what he's doing. Any other guy would be losing like crazy but he can get away with it because of skill but none of those guys beleive that he's this monster WW that the media and these fans try to act like he is. Thats why all the smaller guy are willign to fight him but not the others. Thats why all the big guys want to fight him. The fact is were so unappracating one of the best fighters ever. 20 years from now he is a guy that everyone will be talking about and wishing they had seen and we had him and didnt appreciate him. Thats sad.

I know, but don't let it get to you. Just trust that everything will work out in the end.

Hey, you could even try posting about someone other than Floyd for a bit.

I can't stand Mayweather. I want him to fight the best at welterweight but he won't. That said.....the guy can do it all. Most talented guy in the sport and a phenom. I still don't like him though.

Liking Floyd for most people is like coming to terms with their sexuality, for some it goes swiftly and painlessly, and some need their own trials and trebulations.

I really dont care much for what Floyd does outside the ring, but I do have a lot of time for Floyd when he is inside.

He is great. But he chose to play the villain role, so you cant expect the majority of people to like him. If there is a bully in your school, you want to see someone knock the bully out. Floyd played the bully role, remember how he kept taunting Oscar, calling him a ***** and ****? A lot of people liked Oscar then, hence his PPV numbers.
