  • Ricardo Torres almost beaten by Journeyman, is his career done?

On Friday night former WBO junior welterweight champion Ricardo Torres (33-2, 29 KOs) defeated Raul Pinzon (16-3, 15 KOs) by way of 10th round TKO at the Hotel Prado Mar in Puerto, Colombia. Torres cornerman advised him prior to the start of the tenth and final round that he needed a knockout to win the fight with Torres himself being knocked down in rounds one, four and seven. Torres delivered as he went on to drop a very fatigued Pinzon three times in the final round in route to the TKO victory. Torres was trailing on the three official scorecards by 5, 4 and 3 points. The official time of the stoppage was 2:09 seconds of the 10th round.

Wow that Holt fight must have taken everything out of him. My personal opinion was that Holt clashed heads with him good which setup the dazed Torres that caused the "real" knockout, but Mentally I think that killed him as a fighter and he will be a bum here on out.

If it wasn't for his heavy hands he still has a punchers chance ... kinda like Randall Bailey.

I was never sold on Torres being a good fighter. Just a guy who is heavy handed with sneaky handspeed. Never liked his chin, never liked his stamina. He's only effective in short bursts. Really almost as one dimensional as Miranda is. He'll always have a punchers chance, but that's it.

Holt vs Torres III at 147 would be a good crossroads fight

Pretty sure this fight was at 147...could be wrong though.

OK I looked at Boxrec. The fight was at 154. So not as serious to me. I mean he already has questionable stamina. Still shouldnt lose to that type of competition though.

He's moving to 147 though. He can't make 140, which is why Torres-Holt III was cancelled to begin with.
