here is how i determine skills

    accuracy
    smooth punching(lead punches or counterpunches)

defense-(blocking, slipping, dodging punches, fighting/defending off of the ropes)

    footwork

    upperbody movement

    body positioning

    speed

    power

    ring generalship

    timing

training methods i consider also---padwork, jumrope routine, heavybag training, double-end bagwork, sparring, etc.

All in all--the answer is simple really--nobody---not even close
    ivan calderon

I would throw in Calderon as being a pretty complete boxer skillwise.

Skillwise you could argue for Ivan Calderon. He's definitely one of, if not the best pure boxer in the world.

In recent memory Pernell Whitaker trumps Floyd in ALL those catagories.....and Roy Jones and Meldrick Taylor probably do as well.

Manny Pacquiao. Joe Calzaghe if he came back from retirement. Wlad is close...

some truly horrific posts in this thread.

Guzman? F.uck off, he does the shoulder roll, end of, you think ameth diaz would ever land clean on floyd mayweather jr? dont even get me started in guzman's footwork.

As for JMM, we'll see if he has better timing than mayweather on july 18th.

Pacquiao better footwork than mayweather? What when he lunges in unbalanced open to a counter? or when he's throwing a right hook then tucking his head in hoping not get hit because he's questionable punching backwards.

Then there was the calzaghe suggestion of better upper body movement, when was the last time you saw joe calzaghe stationary on the ropes avoiding combinations and countering, cos the last time I saw Joe calzaghe he was on the floor after getting decked by a 40 year old.

You dont like mayweather, fine. He's a dodgy matchmaker, fine.

Putting Guzman et al in the same league as mayweather, get the f.uck outta here.
