Why does Boxing not have tournaments?

It would be great, like what they do in K1 Kickboxing. Did they not do this in the 80s when Mike Tyson became undisputed champion? Don Kunt organized the tournament in which Tyson defeated Tucker at the end to become undisputed champ.
This would be IDEAL to get rid of the paper champs problem. The Heavyweight devision for instance could really need it.

And while we are they why dont we have soccer tables, 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw, and 0 for a loss, and the fights take place over 6 rounds

OR we could keep things like they are now, and how theyre meant to be!

(on a nicer note they do have prizefighter in england which is a boxing tournement, and the contenders a tournement as well?)

Having the best fighters in a division fightin each other consecutively in a unification tournament would make too much sense. Boxing politics ain't havin that too often.

Ideally we just want the best to fight the best. The rankings are fairly accurate, just get the guys to fight already.

To answer your question, the main reason it won't ever happen is $$$$

And sandyvahra, I think they could milk out a lot of cash with something like this. Imagine the hype it could get.

I also understand there was a middleweight tournament with all the 4 belt holders fighting each other and the final resulted in Hopkins-Trinidad after Trinidad sparked Joppy and Hopkins I forgot who it was, lol

I would love for Wladimir to get a shot at Valuev or Chagaev etc. He would be cleaning up the mess but because of the politics it's just not happening I guess.

                  it was keith holmes.

don king set it up so tito can unify 160.

he had the champions hopkins (ibf) , joppy (wba) and holmes (wbc) along with tito who came up from 154 fight the tournament.

Think is the key word man, it's possible but but why would they fix something that isn't broken? And by broken, i mean making them a boatload of $$$.

Don King tried that middleweight tourney, the problem was a lot of casuals never heard of the guys outside bhop/tito.
