Because promoters don't want their fighters to lose the zero from their record. That mentality sucks ass, and needs to change. If two fighters put on a good show, both clearly 'win'.

he had the champions hopkins (ibf) , joppy (wba) and holmes (wbc) along with tito who came up from 154 fight the tournament.

i think thats the key right there. The Promoter has to own all the champs like that he can have control of the champ. alot promoters dont want to risk their champ losin their belt.
