RJ goes up to fight Ruiz at HW and everyone wanted to see it. After that, Floyd sait it inspired him and he wanted to immediatly fight Oscar but Oscar wouldnt do it. Floyd had just fought N'Dou at LW where he came into the ring at 139 pounds and Oscar had just lost to Shane at 154 where he came into the ring at 165 pounds in a fight where a ton of people were saying that he had won. No one thought that the fight was dumb or that Oscar was a punk if he fought Floyd. Everyone wanted to see it but Oscar said NO. Floyd then moved up to 140 to fight Chop and Oscar moved to MW and beat Sturm. Again Floyd said that he would jump to any weight to fight Oscar. Oscar had just beat a MW champ and Floyd had a tough fight with Chop where he only came into the ring at 144 pounds and no one thought it was a bad fight.
Floyd 2 fights later fights Gatti at 140 where he still comes into the ring at 144. Most had him, Hopkins, and Winky ranked as the top 3 fighters at the time. Winky was a monster at 154 and unbeatable. Then he had just moved up to MW and completely shutout Tito in a fight where Tito was the favorite. Winky killed Tito at MW and Floyd just fought Gatti at 140 when people were talking about them fighting and again not 1 person said that it was a joke fight. No one on this board mentioned anything about it and infact they called Floyd a punk & ***** when the fight didnt happened. Winky wanted 50/50 against Floyd even though Floyd was the much smaller man and was the bigger draw. He was also the one taking the risk as the smaller man. Floyd said that he would do the fight but not for 50/50 and everyone called him a punk for it. Now for some reason the same people who said that Winky was taking the risk because he is the bigger man and gains nothing by winning but can lose everything by losing are the same people who say that JMM is taking the risk as the smaller man. Which one is it? Or is the risk just always on the guy who's going against Floyd?
Both Oscar & Winky were way way way bigger then Floyd at the time and no one thought those fights were joke fights. Winky was in his prime and considered even better then JMM is now but its ok for Floyd to fight him and not for JMM to fight Floyd even though Floyd-JMM are much closer in size than Floyd-Winky? Its the same for the Oscar fight. Then Floyd moves to WW and everyone says that he ran like a punk against Baldy while coming into the ring at just 148 pounds and Oscar was coming off a murder of Mayorga at 154 where he came into the ring at 165 pounds. People still say that Floyd looked like he couldnt take Baldy's shots but Oscar had just decpaitated a guy in Mayorga who everyone tries to say has a beast chin. Yet Floyd still goes to 154 to fight Oscar when no one thought he was even a real WW at the time. He weighs in at 150 only because it was a mandate in his contract and came into the ring at 148 pounds while Oscar was over 165 but no one thought it was a joke fight. No one called Oscar a ***** for the fight.
Lets even talk about right now. Again, Floyd coming into the ring at 148 pounds. If he decided to jump to MW to fight Pavlik then everyone would want to see it and no one would call it a joke fight. People always look at it against Floyd. Pavlik has fought at 170 where he came into the ring at like 178 I think and Floyd comes into the ring at 148 but no one would rip that fight and you know it. Everyone would think that it was a big fight. Lets say that Floyd wanted to jump to 165 right now to fight Taylor or Froch. Who would rip it? Would a ton of people give Floyd a shot? No one would call Froch & Taylor punks for taking it. It would be a huge fight and everyone would want to see how it played out. Yet if its Floyd vs anyone then he's a punk who's picking on smaller guys. Nevermind the fact that he only outweighs JMM by like 5 pounds in the ring and Pac ways the exact same thing as him in every fight even if he's at 3 classes lower. The WW's arent punks for wanting to fight Floyd even though they all come into the ring at 162-170 while Floyd has only been at 146-148 for every single WW fight. How can Floyd's fight with JMM be a joke when you consider all that? If Floyd did the exact same thing then no one would say its a joke and no one would be ripping Floyd's opponent for picking on little guys and all those fights I named were way further apart in weight than Floyd is to JMM. Its such biased hatred and people try to twist everything. Its a huge double standard. What, everyone can jump 2 divisons for big fights but JMM cant? Look at Williams going from WW to MW or Hopkins going from MW to LHW to fight Tarver who was #2 in the world at the time or Toney going to HW and so on
