Victor Ortiz the new Fernando Vargas?????

Is there anyone else that sees the similarities between the two? Similar body types, although Victor is at 140 and I don't quite see him having as many weight problems in the future as Fernando. They both have a fan friendly, carefree personality. That star quality that makes people like them. They also have similar fan friendly, fighting styles and come from the same area. Time will tell how Victor Ortiz' career will play out but I see a lot of similarities between these two.

i think ortiz will fare much better than vargas. he seems to have a much better head on his shoulders, but i do see many similarities.

Ortiz is more composed and tactical. There are some similarities. We wont know until we see Ortiz fat between fights.

they have some similarities but personality is no one of them. vargas portrayed himself as a mexican bad ass while ortiz seems more personable.

I like how Ortiz kinda ****s his knee in a crouch when he's measuring up his man. This kid is the real deal. He seems majorly confident, which is great, but I don't see him being a whiny ass like Vargas - nor will he become "nice and round" like Mayorga's son's ass.

I used to think so but Ortiz is not Vargas. They are not throwing him to wolves like they did Vargas.

Just because they're both 5'9" and dark brown.

this is because ortiz is trained by Vargas' ex-trainer.. danny garcia.. great trainer.

Vargas had a lot of talent and wins over Winky, Quartey, and Marquez, with the potential to be even better, but Ortiz has a lot of skills too and will have a better career than Vargas. Bring on Campbell!
