Definitely a good idea to train with Roach again, but lol @ Vanes being like manny pacman.
I'd like to see Vanes more aggressive though, like he says he's learning to be, that was one of his problems lately in his fights is he lacked aggression. That could be a huge improvement. Or backfire horribly! lol -

man i have high hopes for this guy. glad he's back in socali!
it appeared to me he was slipping during his stint in texas.
glad he's back with roach.
i'm telling you, and i know its hard to tell with the level of opponents he's beat, but this guy has that cotto type poise and takes direction.
excellant footwork. the way he glides into position to put body behind power punches. then glides out of way to the sides.
i'm having to repeat that i'd like to see him step it up a full step after this next one please.
i know it'll never happen because theres no money there for jc jr but i'd realy like to see vanes mop up the floor with that
joke cesar chavez jr!Comment

How can he throw fast punches with through all that bubble-wrap??
Vanes is the most over-protected prospect out there. wake me when he fights somebody with a pulse.Comment

Its not up to Vanes to step up his competition, its up to Top Rank to give him the opportunity to beat some of the notables in the division. Everyone wants to hate and bash Vanes but I didn't see one comment or thread mentioning the fact that Vanes' most recent opponent (Billy Lyell) just wiped the floor with Duddy.
As far as JC JR or even Duddy for that matter, Bob Arum will never feed those two to Vanes because then there is no more money to be made from those chumps. Vanes has a lot of learning to do with Freddie but the future looks bright and on June 27 he will take a huge step up and fight Andrey Tsurkan. This will be a real test of where Vanes is at compared to lets say Angulo who went 10 rounds with Tsurkan.Comment

As an amateur Martirosyan had wins over Berto, Bradley, and Shawn Estrada... I know that was in the amateur so it doesn't really matter... But it does show he is talented.Comment

not only did he beat those guys, but he beat up Bradley all fight and had him ktfo when the bell rang. Vanes has all the physical talent in the world to become a world champ, its time that top rank steps up his competition and it starts on june 27Comment
