With little to no risk because it was like an exibition fight since he still had the titles and all after wards. then this stiff Rubio who did nothing for the first 4 or 5 rounds but stand there and get hit was a joke. Lockett well maybe he took that fight as a icebreaker with the Calzaghe camp to try to get a fight with Joe. Sort of like well you want to fight Joe first you got to put a little money in my pocket and give Lockett a shot. Yeah joke is on the fans. Point I am trying to make is we all gave JT crap for not fighting anyone after winning the titles but who has Kelly fought and don't give me this promoter BS either...Lefty
Blame the WBO and the WBC for Lockett and Rubio. They were mandatory opponents. He had to fight them or lose the belts. The middleweight division is a wasteland. Pavlik fighting the Taylor's, Miranda's, Hopkin's shows he himself has balls. He fought Hopkins for a good payday and paid a big price for it.

The only way they can make a good fight at Middleweight right now, is to fight Abraham or Sturm. There is a big issue with that though. None of the 3 fighters have a large enough US fanbase. All parties involved will want to get paid big. Who is going to shell out 5 million a piece to each camp to get them to fight each other?

Any unification fight at Middleweight right now is a money losing adventure.

This would be good work for Pavlik and would be his last fight before he HAS to fight King Arthur or risk being called another Duck.
Honestly I think Mora wouldnt be able to hurt Pavlik but his style would give Kelly problems might be a good warm up if he plans to fight another B Hop type fighter with movement and boxing skills but if he fights a puncher like AA or....Lefty

He needs to be more well-rounded as a fighter and I don't remember anyone who he has fought with that style. At least it can help him learn to cut off the ring better and be able to step to the side and punch so he can catch a guy who moves. Nothing beats a real fight for learning.

We know he can fight punchers. Abraham fights out of the high gurad similar to Miranda, but knows how to get on his toes when he needs to.

Luckily, there are some prospect/contender types coming up in MW.

First of all, lets leave Sturm out of this, he ain't fighting any kind of threat. he lost to ancient Javier Castellejo (sp). We all know this. I think there are enough people out there that want to see Pavlik V King Arthur. Both of those guys want the fight because they want to prove they are the best. I'm worried that Kelly's team doesn't have the confidence in him.

AA beats pavlik by vicious KO. AA has more power then JT and will finish the job if he gets kelly in trouble. AA has good D and counter punches nicely can fight under pressure and has a great chin (just ask Edison Miranda) Truly I think Pavlik is over rated extremely. JT has the issue of going back wards when he is hurt and not being able to hold on. one upper cut in their first fight and we are like Kelly who? He would be a club fighter in ohio somewhere...i really hate to say it but pavliks stock has feel extremely in my view. Unless he can socre a big win against AA or someone else crediable I don't take him seriously....Lefty

I agree AA wins the fight, but Pavlik is no club fighter. U brought up Miranda yourself and Pavlik ate him up. To me he is a world class brawler, but will never be versatile enough to rule a weight class. But any 160 and below fighters (not boxers) better look out cuz pav will blast you out. For example I think he wears Kirkland out.

Rematch wit Taylor was a good fight, and of course he stepped to Bhop and got punked. It's time for the ****in AA fight already.

Kelly is right not to take this fight it means nothing and he could lose everything to a no body from the contender show. I think he needs to fight aa, sturm or p will and win by ko. In order to gain back some repsect and confidence from himself and his fans. Critics and fans alike all gave jt alot of crap for who he beat after becoming undisputed mw champ. We talked about him not knocking anyone out and winning some ugly fights...but think about it jt had 4 title deffenses against

                    hopkins - top p4p
                    wright - top p4p
                    ouma
                    c spinks - former 154 title holder

pavlik has only defended his title two times since winning it yes right two times. The second fight against jt was at a catch weight of 166 and the fight against hopkins was at 170...remember his corner man telling him your only losing the fight not the titles...that was sickining to hear

lockett - a nobody from the enzo calzaghe camp
rubio - a tune up after a loss to b hop

so after winning the 160lb title he is 3-1 and 2 of those wins are against no bodies. Guys we could do with out ever seeing in the boxing ring again much less seeing them fighting for the undisputed mw championship right? Even in his fight the 2nd one against jt it was close.

so really kelly the only ghost was have seen is a ghost of what you were beofre winning the mw championship. You gave jt alot of crap on your way up but in truth jt never ducked no one and who have you fought since winning the mw titles?

in closing i will say this watching kelly on his way up knocking out guys like edison miranda and then jt was very exciting. I was defintely a fan and i still am but to be honest and speak truly i have yet to see him do the things i expected him to do once he got the titles. I know you worked hard for them kelly and it was not an easy road but come on and fight someone deserving of a title shot....lefty
exactly, but the ghost has been able to escape the criticism. Even mora is simply a jr mw. The mw division is boring now that pavlik beat taylor. No abraham...hell he could have even fought williams. The mw division is just boring now.

He did more impressive things on the way to winnin the title than he did after winnin it, that's for sure.
