Pacquiao-Hatton PPV numbers

PPV buys are actually LESS affected by the economy than a live gate is. Even in a bad economy, a PPV can be split amongst a group of friends, and is relatively cheap entertainment. On the other hand, 5 people can't "chip in" on a seat in an arena.Comment

Check it out Quis, I think you are wrong about the 650k, Steve Kim is pretty reputable with insider info, BUT I think your point is well taken. The numbers hurt their negotiation for sure. If Floyd outsold against Ricky and Oscar compared to Manny, Floyd has hard evidence for bargaining. all this "Pac brings more people to the sport" doesn't mean **** cuz those numbers can't be quantified. This is looking to be a 50/50 type thing unless the fight with JMM tanks or draws less than 500K
When the officials com e out, if the number is actually "north of 800K", I will b e the first one to correct my own data. If it was 800K, then that is a center cut number b/w the source that I had early last week, and the "north of 900K" that Arum gave last week.
If my source was 10-15% light, I will be more than happy to correct my data.
Also, If Floyd/JMM does 500K, as Rafael is projecting, then that means Mayweather is 3-0 in sales over Manny. That would hurt negotiations.Comment

How is that if Mayweather/Marquez will have a 24/7 and Pacquiao/Marquez didnt and STILL nearly reached 500K?
Fact is, at this point, its who's hot and who the public wants to get behind.
Its pretty obvious Pac would be just fine fighting Cotto instead of Floyd and calling it a day. Its Floyd who wants to regain the title so he will be at Pacquiao's mercy.
Pacquioao doesnt need Floyd. But for Floyd to accomplish what he wants, he has to go through Pacquiao.
Aint it funny how that works?Comment

Bottom line, we agree that Manny's sales are not helping his negotiations for the Floyd.
I do like how you are now open to Rafael's estimates but were not open to his sources.Comment

Dan Rafael from espn.com
good numbers for two non American fighters
but this just reaffirms the fact that pacquiao WON'T be getting the lion's share of the purse, if he and his team drum up the courage to face floyd.Comment
