He is 32 years old and has been inactive for 1 1/2 years.

When he went into retirement, he said he didn't love the sport anymore. Mental decline.

Yes, same exact fighter that fought at 130-140.

Just because he has the "O" doesn't mean he is still at his best.

Physically, he is what he is right now; no changing that; he won't be the same fighter he was at 130-140 (or even early on at 147) when he was at his best.

Mentally however, he can fire up the engine and get motivated again. How much is a wait and see thing.

Maybe you should try not to look at everything so broad and dive deeper.

Why are you speaking to Floyd Mayweather through an Internet forum?

Pac still has 2 KO losses; a loss against past prime Morales and two fights against JMM that were very close and disputable (at least in the second fight).

What Floyd may be doing or at least I think some are thinking it, is taking the fight with JMM to get to Pac in order to slap down any threat to his "Best of his Generation" legacy. Get rid of Pac and you may not have to fight Cotto/Shane. If you don't fight Pac, you need Cotto and Shane more than ever.
I'm just saying he needs Pac since he doesn't want to fight Cotto/Mosley that's why for his comeback fight instead of picking these guys he picked Juanita from the Lightweight division...If he wins against JMM, he'll just come back to retirement if ever his fight with Pacquiao will not push through...He came back because of Pac not because of Cotto or Mosley why? because he already had the chance of fighting these two even before he retired, but he didn't, you already know the reason why.

This will be brilliant to see Floyd actually have to fight some one dangerous in order to try and take Manny's crown :lmfao: This is a nice game of chess and Floyd has just been checked. Brilliant! I don't even think Manny has to retire, all he has to do is say he is going on vacation, duck Mayweather purposely like Mayweather did to Cotto. Manny can even go on dancing with the stars or go wrestle with Batizta when Floyd is not active and then when Floyd has a fight, Manny comes back and fights some one else. :yeha: Now that biatch Floyd will know how it feels to play games
hahaha.....green K and 1 notch higher in rep power for you, brah!!

I think most seem to think that as well; he came back for Pac.
It was a slap in the face to Floyd that Pac took on Oscar and Hatton. In a way, a big slap that Pac was able to get Oscar to come down to 147 and show up drained while Floyd had the healthier version. Floyd caved in negotiations where Pac didn't.
That's why Floyd is slapping back with the JMM fight (in order to get to Pac). I think that may have also been the reason why Pac looked pissed when Floyd's name was brought up by Larry Merchant.

I thought he did challenge Mosley but Mosley had other things to do at the time???

For Cotto: Arum fighter. Cotto may have accepted a match with Floyd if Arum gave him the fight, but Arum's only intention for Floyd was for him to fight Margarito which Floyd wasn't going to do since he wanted Oscar. Now, would Floyd have accepted the fight....not sure. Maybe if the money was high. But that is the problem with today's boxing and some of these fighters. Once they get a check to pay for a Mansion and a Ferrari, they want the same amount again.

It would have been interesting to see if these fighters weren't paid a lot (like back in the day) and were basically forced to fight more often. As long as they have high paying salaries, fighters will fight less and pick and choose the big money fights only (once they get to a certain prestige).

It depends on what is true with Floyd on why he came back. If he really does need to pay back bills and the L.A. Times report is accurate with his quote that he wants to fight 3x a year, then he will be fighting a lot longer then JMM and a possible Pac fight. Roger mentioned Shane for a future fight in a recent interview and also though Floyd would stay longer. And a while back, Roger mentioned Cotto as a likely opponent.

It's up to Floyd now and I do think he needs to take on either Cotto or Shane.

His legacy at 147+ isn't much at all. He needs Shane and Cotto for that.

Why are biased Floyd fans making it seem that Floyd is going up against the biggest threat he can in this time? (Cotto, Pwilliams, Mosley, all only up 4 divisions) Pacman has climbed waaayyyy more divisions than 4 and could possibly fight ONE of the best fighters in our time an accomplishment in itself. I wish Floyd challenged himself as much as Pacman does and it wouldn't hurt if he was a little more offensive. I hope Manny retires after fighting anyone but Floyd next. This way either Floyd retires AGAIN and proofs he is avoiding good competition at his current weight, or he shows everyone how skilled he REALLY is and takes all TOP OPPONENTS at his CURRENT weight. I believe he can beat them all for the record but they will CHALLENGE him
