I have seen the Judah fight, DLH fight, Hatton fight, Gatti fight, Chico fight and pieces of the Castillo fights...he is a great fighter, but I would like to see him in the ring with a fighter almost or as intelligent as him, I hope Marquez meant by "Mexican War" that he will never give up and not walk forward because that will be disastrous for him.
What people don't understand is he was timing the much quicker Manny Pacquiao and hitting him dead on. He hit the canvas a few times, but Floyd isn't a power puncher. Let's not be delusional. Only Floyd fans think he's a power puncher at anything above 140. Good puncher, but not a power puncher.
We don't know if Marquez is a big puncher at 143 either, but instinct tells me he will still be the bigger puncher only because he sits down on his punches more.
Mayweather is also coming off of a layoff, a layoff that consisted of partying just about every day.
Marquez, like Pacquiao, has gradually improved his game and has turned himself into a p4p candidate. Marquez isn't just a counter puncher anymore, like Roach said. Marquez has improved his offensive abilities greatly and has scored 2 KO's in his last fights.
Also, why should Floyd woop Marquez so easily? Marquez is 10 times the boxer Hatton was, has more heart and better defense.Comment

Watched more than i'd have liked. Floyd was a more a fighter at 130, 135 n 140. He'd let his hands go. Hand problems or not he's been boring to fans at 147 n 154. it's all about what have you done for me lately & aside from ko'ing hatton there hasn't been much that appeals to the casual fan.
If Floyd did his hands go and mix it up a bit more wow, and it's not like he can't do it. His skillset is second to none, but his choice of opposition and how fights that opposition has been questioned. All it takes are a few fights that he can win vs. top opposition and he rids that critique.
Sadly I think what's gonna happen with floyd is what he's been doing lately. Questionable opponents, until he realizes for himself that the critique is too loud. I can see him coming back fighting the best out there perhaps when it's too late & looks mortal. That's when he'll really be appreciated skill wise & people will root for him. It's happened to me personally for guys recently like oscar, tito, morales, etc. At their prime's you'd want to see them fall, only to appreciate them when their past their prime and want to see them succeed.Comment

I have his career set on dvds(as I do many other fighters), so I have seen quite a few of his fights. I know all these threads and questions boil down to ATG status. The bottom line is that fans want to see certain fights for a reason, because they answer questions about ATG status. Questions that fights against "Ndou" and Jesus "Chavez" can not answer. When you do not make those big fights happen and instead just take fights that are only "good enough", then you can not be considered an ATG in my opinion, you just remain a question mark in history. Mayweather is setting himself up to be a question mark in history. Taking time off and remaining undefeated while the top names he should have faced beat each other and get loses on there records does not translate to him being better then those fighters.Comment

I've watched him face Phillip N'Dou, Demarcus Corley, Emanuel Augustus (K.O. Nation. LMAO.) I've watched Diego Corrales, Carlos Baldomir, Oscar De La Hoya, Zab Judah, Ricky Hatton, Jesus Chavez and both Jose Luis Castillo fights.
The boold fights that I appreciate watching a few times. The other fights are fights that I remember, and wasn't really bored with. Not even the Baldomir fight. Judah was world class and Baldomir beat him. It was interesting to see Mayweather school him. It was fun. Not INCREDIBLE, but fun. The purist in me enjoyed it. The slanted fights are fights I didn't watch live.Comment

i don't think the long layoff or any supposed 'partying' hurts floyd all that much. the guy is a fitness freak, doesn't drink, doesn't smoke, and doesn't balloon up in weight a la Ricky Fatton - he pretty much walks around his fight weight.
and yeah, i've watched most of his fights - he can **** when he needs to. and he may not be a power puncher like Pac, but ask any of his KO'd opponents if his punches had sting on them.Comment

Marquez isn't an idiot. He's getting severely underrated here and he knows it himself. He's probably using it to his advantage. The guy is a master boxer, he's not just some guy who throws combination's on instinct, he's dead accurate.
