What's silly is what you're implying. Self confidence and self belief, even to the point of seeming delusional is a must if you're doing something at a high level. Even the most humble fighters think the same, they might not say it and try to dodge the question or give a pr type answer, but they believe it.
If you don't have this type of self confidence, then you're not fighting at a high level, simple as that.
The guys who fight on short-notice and have losing records, the ones who get a lot of work go into fights with belief that 'that guy can't hurt me.' If they avoid the knockout, they get more work.
That's pretty strong self-belief right there. I was impressed with that Journeyman Chris Gray? who survived with Lara on the Pacman Undercard. He was composed in there, despite taking shots. It must have been like trying to hold back a typhoon with a spoon at times, but he did it. It was his own little victory. He won that fight in his own way.Comment

Of course he's going to think that.
Size differences aside, I don't expect, or especially want, a fighter to say "yeah I can't beat this guy".
It may sound delusional to us when fighters think they can beat certain other fights, but the ones who lack confidence are the ones who later get knocked for being mentally weak.Comment

Everyone wants to fight Pac due to bigger money, even I would be willing to be knocked out or bloodied in exchange of even just one million dollars.Comment
